Toilet Paper Rolls
Something we all have to dispose of. Or learn how to make roses out of them on youtube as I did with grand daughter one Sunday morning.
Or, use them as seed sowing units. This one I heard about on cbc radio today.
They said to cut the rolls into 3rds. Fit them so that they snug up against each other in a container then fill with soil and plant seeds. I am thinking that the brown paper rolls haven't been bleached and wouldn't contain dioxins or anything. ?
In the past I have used them whole as a means of stopping cutworms from chewing through plant stems. These collars are applied when seedlings are small, as they are being planted, with a bit of the bottom of the roll also under the soil line.

Re: Toilet Paper Rolls
I have birds, so the rolls get used up as bird toys. Just put between the bars and the large birds tear them to shreds. Or thread them on a perch and the small birds nibble away at them. Or put a treat in them, and fold down the edges so you have a package that rattles; the large parrots use these as "forage" toys. I bet dogs could use them that way too.

I've been saving the rolls as well as ones from paper towels. I was thinking of starting some early squash, cucumber and okra using them.Growing Coastal wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:30 am Or, use them as seed sowing units. This one I heard about on cbc radio today.

I make the toilet paper for sowing tapes with radish seeds. I put the seeds at the recommended distance. It saves me the work in the garden after which my back hurts.

MrBig46 I have done the same thing with radish seeds in the past and it has worked well. Saves having to thin plants and I get a lot more plants from the seeds.

We used to make sail boats out of empty Clorox jugs.
Nothing to do with toilet paper rolls but I thought I would throw it out there.

A bird feeder can also be made from a large plastic jug. Roof on it, too but still needs drainage holes, as I recall.

Re: Toilet Paper Rolls
Well since the whole planet has gone toilet paper crazy, I decided to cover my @ss, yes pun intended.
So I planted some Toilet paper seeds, hoping for an early harvest.

SQWIB, I wish you a bountiful harvest. I'm quite sure it will be very profitable.

Re: Toilet Paper Rolls
You guys are great.. glad to see you are still laughing
There is no need to sow any toilet paper seeds here yet... so far the stores are well stocked.. that may of course change, if the toilet paper producing factories lose their staff to this virus and cannot function properly.
Me, I will be starting some tomato seeds this week... in moss pellets for the very first time.

I used to do that when I kept parrots...I miss them.Nan6b wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 12:03 pm I have birds, so the rolls get used up as bird toys.
