Dark Stripe Micro

So I transplanted my Dark Stripe Micro tomatoes into big pots this weekend and I was just fascinated by the buds they're producing. I know they're supposed to be multi flora, but I guess I didn't pay close attention to the only other multi flora we've grown ( a Barry's Crazy Cherry last year).

That's a beautiful cluster! :) Is this one of Dan's?

If it's not, he's going to be jealous.

I remember that much of his early work involved aiming for multiflora micros.

I believe much of the work was done by Curtis Jackson of Renaissance Farms. It's more of a small dwarf than a micro, despite the name. Mine are about a foot tall right now and they're about 11 weeks old. The description says they get about 2 feet tall, so I've got them in 7 gallon pots.

Here's the description. https://renaissancefarms.org/product/da ... ro-tomato/

I think Curtis said he got the original cross at F3 so in fact it could be Dan's original.

Did this come from the MMMM? If so, they were my saves. I got the seeds from Curtis and yes, i think he got them at F3 and stabilized them. It did top out about 18 inches or 2ft for me.the flowers took forever to ooen which was probably cool weather related. Like over a month. But then it was very productive.

No, I planted it before I got my swap package. I bought the seeds from Curtis last fall. My idea for this year is to try a few multi flora plants for Farmer's Market production. I was happy with how the Barry's Crazy produced last year so I thought it might be interesting to see how other ones do.

Thanks for letting me know your experience with this variety. I've got them in a greenhouse so they shouldn't be to affected by cool weather.

So we had a venting issue with the heater in that greenhouse and all my tomatoes in there dropped their flowers. Sigh. But the plants are doing well now, so here's an update on the potted Dark Stripe Micro.

That inflorescence is fantastic!
I am wondering- does anyone know who the Dark Stripe source was that was sent out in this year's MMMM?
Is this from Curtisor from Julianna? Tormato, wise one, I bet you can solve this quandary!

First pic of D.S. Micro. Seed from this years swap. Looks like it will top out about 2 ft. Kind of a rangy short dwarf.

Other pics of Dan's select crosses I've been growing for several years. No great tastes, just like how they grow and look.

So we got the first tomatoes off the Dark Stripe Micro. These are so good! Sweet and tasty. I really like them. The shoulders stayed green so we weren't completely sure if they were ripe but we tried them and they were. I'm really liking this variety.

It looks green to me. The first picture is from an angle where you can see the shoulders.

And now that I have those seeds out, I'm compelled to stick them in a jar to ferment,. 😁
