Well you would hate it here for sure! Gloomy is ridiculous in this place. Can you believe 70% + chance of precip every day, from November to... hmmm when does it get better? Not yet for sure.
OTOH on sunny days like today, we get the 'mole man' effect. I can't see! What is this blinding thing?!! Dig a hole!!! Pray for clouds, everybody.
Tomatoes don't do any better with it either. Feast or famine with the light. All we really want is some perfect compromise....

Most of December it was rainy or overcast almost every day, and this month it's been 55-60F days and 35-40F nights. Perfect weeding weather! But the soil is still too wet to do much planting, and I have tons of natives I bought several months ago to plant in the yard. The optimal time to plant them is from about November to mid-February.

It’s been a lovely January, highs in the 60s and 70s. Praying for more rain like we had in December. Started the first round of tomatoes this week, so they should be in the ground by Saint Patrick’s day. if all goes to plan.

43F 6C here this morning at 0600. Foggy, Heading for abundant sunshine and 74 degrees later today. Big change for the weekend, mid 50s during the day and mid thirties at night and gale warnings for Saturday. January 2022 has so far been pretty normal here, unlike December 2021 when it was unseasonably warm most of the month.

A couple of thunderstorms went through yesterday, one about 1:30pm dumped 0.5 inch in 15 - 20 minutes, then one about 4:30 pm dumped 2.1 inches in about the same time span, roads flooded in local towns all over the place, drainage just not built for that sort of volume. Tomatoes and peppers looking a bit shell shocked!

Gale force winds and heavy rain expected here as well, starting overnight tonight and looks like it'll blow into Sunday night, although temperatures will drop again on Sunday. Our high today 6C again, a few showers. We actually took a road trip to my son and DIL's place out the bay. Hour and a half either way, roads were just wet no snow or ice but a fine crop of potholes already, with all this freeze and thaw every two days in January so far.

This morning I hear the rain ticking against the window. It's 36 on the front porch with a 17 mph wind from the ENE. COLD rain! So far we've had 1" of it. The cats didn't stay out there very long this morning. They did their business and came right back in. Smart kitties! Our tv station's weather page says it's 35 with light snow. I don't see any but there's no ice! Just a very miserable day out there. I'd much rather have snow. With the wind (which is supposed to blow all day) there's still the chance of some tree falling on the power lines somewhere but the generator is ready.

Down to 12° outside here, overnight, and still 18° now - definitely the coldest yet. Supposed to snow later today, but temps going up to around 40°, and rain taking over, melting all of it, so I won't complain!

Ours has changed to snow overnight, some snow squalls today but the really high winds are over. Both big trellises are down again, for the SE gale. Sunny and below freezing tomorrow, then back to rain and 4C on Tuesday.
We are not keeping much snow on the ground, and I wouldn't be surprised if we set a record for days above freezing in January. A thaw or two is perfectly normal but every two days, not so much. I don't mind, I won't shovel what doesn't pile up.

we have been in the zero to 20 degree range the past week. mostly in the single digits
to mid teens. sunny the past couple days. today is rather gloomy outside. we have had about an inch of
snow so far, and there have been snow showers through out the week. tractor wouldn't start, and stay running
last sunday when it was zero with a minus 23 windchill. the old plow truck started, so i was able to keep the driveway clear.
always want to have back up here in snow central.

It's just starting to snow here, after getting up to 31°. Eventually it's supposed to turn to rain, and melt everything - I'm lucky here, compared to many of you.

33 F here this morning, is that 0 or 1 C ? Anyhow, A little frost on the roof. Heading for 68, 20 C this afternoon. Brilliant sunshine. Tuesday and Wednesday look similar with highs into the 70s, then another cool down and maybe some moisture on Thursday, then staying cool and dry through the weekend and into early next week.

By 11:00 last night, all the snow had been melted by the rain. As I was going to sleep around midnight, it sounded like a summertime storm, minus the thunder and lightning. I got easily over 2" of rain (and melted snow), when I checked a bucket I had on my deck, that only had ¼" before. I'm lucky that wasn't snow! It's 37° now, so not freezing, but it was up to 45° overnight, before that storm went out.

@karstopography 33F = 33-32 /1.8 =0.55C.

When going from F to C, one needs to subtract 32 to account for the differences in Zeros then divide by 1.8.
Going from C to F one multiplies by 1.8 then add 32.

And if you can't remember that, here's a handy link for switching back and forth. BTW, there are all kinds of calculators like this (for weights, lengths, etc) on this site.

We ended up with no ice, just 1.1" of rain and little wind. Today is clear and now the wind has gotten up 15-25 mph, gusting higher.

It's snowing again - just light, and supposed to stop soon, so nothing major. The temperature is 37°, but the wind is still bad - over 20 mph, with gusts well into the 30s.

Today was beautiful, clear and cold. That system is headed our way by tomorrow, but will only be a small amount of rain for us around 15 mm. Winds will be high from the SE again but not as bad as the last one. We had gusts up to 112 kph here - that is 70 mph. Another place on the island had a gust of 155 kph... yikes.
Fact is we have 70 kph winds - in the 40's mph - here on the order of several times a week, and nothing usually breaks because the trees are growing under that stress all the time. It's been a stormy January and we've had it gusting over 100 kph / 60-70 mph winds probably half dozen times in the last two weeks. That can break things but luckily not much, because well, we're used to it. 20 mph is the kind of day I might not bother to hang out laundry, because 'there's no wind'. Just goes to show, it's all about what you're used to. Trees and other things can break, whenever it exceeds your norms by a certain amount, so the local standard is the one that counts.

I just use google for random conversions. google "convert 30 mph to kph" and a calculator pops up. Works for weights and other measures too.
