I bet that while we are all freezing @Whwoz is outside enjoying his barbie in his Speedo.

Re: How's your weather?
I remember as a kid in Texas running around in shorts and tee shirt during Christmas.
But that was way back before global warming.
Now it's 23F outside and the heater won't stop running.
I'm just glad the flooding rain stopped before the cold came in.

Re: How's your weather?
the storm is still raging this morning, and we are snow bound.
early morning call from my partner informed me that the store is closed.
at some point today i will attempt plowing, and blowing snow. not now, though.
can't see much of anything currently. digging out is going to take awhile.

It's 10 out there right now. On Christmas Day last year it was 71! It's usually anywhere from the 40's to the high 60's. Pipes are all OK. The two cats are ticked off it's so cold and if they have to go out it's a very very short trip! Get business done and get back inside.

Re: How's your weather?
The storm has started here too. Mix of snow and ice pellets and gusty enough at over 60 kph for that to bite. Will be gusting 80 kph by noon and changing to rain at some point, looks like plenty of precip on the radar.
Christmas day forecast looks nice, staying above freezing after the gale has passed.
None of this is at all unusual for us. Weather around the solstice is always different every day, and a tossup which one might be nice or even above freezing.
My son and DIL were here for a festive dinner yesterday, but decided to take the 1.5 hr drive home at night instead of staying over and chancing the conditions in the morning. Bro also came yesterday with gifts and picked up a package of treats. We have learned to be flexible about our holiday plans, as it's the only thing that makes sense here.

Down to 7° in my back yard last night. Up to 11° now, 20° forecast high. At least there's no more precipitation. As I said before, I still consider myself lucky, compared to many places.

Re: How's your weather?
Lucky for us, it is dry through the cold snap. We are a half percent above first stage drought conditions here, so we do need quite a bit more rain, but I am glad for no ice and snow. PIC got called out and won't be back until well after dark, so dry roads are a blessing. We are at 26F and a low of 15F tonight, wind is not blowing very much now.

Re: How's your weather?
Here in north Idaho, the worst seems to be over, and the worst wasn't that bad. We got down to about -16, and had a couple frigid days, but my son drove to town and says he went 60 with no problems. It is supposed to be rainy and upper 30s/low 40s for the next week, so we may even lose a lot of our snow cover. I hope everyone-and their greenhouses-stays safe and warm. Merry Christmas!
SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.
Missed you all terribly!

Fortunately Woz is a board short man rather than Speedo, but very quiet this morning due to ongoing migraine. Think I start to get it under control and it bites back. Shirt on to avoid sunburn

Re: How's your weather?
I'm actually enjoying the cold weather.
Nice sleeping and able to cook in the house all kinds of tasty Christmas things without burning up.
Probably one of the best Christmases ever in years here in Texas.
And to top it off I'm on paid vacation and won't be back until Tuesday of next week after New years.
Plus I stacked up overtime as well.
Merry Christmas.

Beautiful, if chilly, day. Got above freezing into the low 40s. Picked some parsley to achieve a victory over the Arctic blast.

Re: How's your weather?
I think we're over the hump now with a low of 19 this morning and heading to 38 this afternoon. More warming coming and by next Saturday we'll be in upper 60's again. Will take off any protection tomorrow, give things a week to see any signs of recovery and then start removing dead stuff.

Re: How's your weather?
Last night only got to 14° last night here, and already just over freezing, @33°, still windy, but again, not as bad as yesterday. Each day is supposed to be getting warmer, but will take several days to be up to average.

Re: How's your weather?
Our forecast high today was 42F, and we probably got to 40 at peak with the sun shining. I hung some laundry out and it dried a little, but the RH never got below 90%. Lovely day in the greenhouse in shirtsleeves, and transplanted a few things. We're not expected to have as good a day as this for some time to come, so it was well appreciated!

California is probably going to get the dreaded mud slides they are famous for.
If I heard the weather correctly.
I remember back in the 70's one took out the guard shack on base.

After 7° Friday night, last night was warm, only getting to 12°, but it was even warmer for the high - only got to 20° yesterday, but 33° today. Still 10° below average, however, but each day keeps getting higher, fortunately.

Hope everyone over there is safe and warm, death toll from that blizzard is too high already and they are saying that it will go higher. Hope no one on here is badly affected

I can't believe it. I am reading that at least 28 people have died due to the cold weather in Buffalo, New York. This is terrible.

Re: How's your weather?
Honestly @SpookyShoe . They had to send rescuers to rescue the rescuers. So bad.
I read that some were dug out of snowbanks and some were in buried cars. And there were deaths by carbon monoxide, when snow blocked the vents from someone's furnace. Just a reminder to anyone who has an oil furnace, this can really happen.
