Gosh Cole_Robbie you had me scared when I saw you post in this thread. I thought that you had lost that gorgeous German Shepherd of yours. She sure is pretty and I would miss her.

Nothing hits quite as hard as losing a pet, hardest part about having them. I took a day off of work when my dear bunny, Mocha, passed last year. None of my pets have ever been particularly affectionate but they still worm their way into my heart nonetheless. I always hesitate to get another but there are so many that needs love and a home and if I can give them that, then it's worth it :)

You can't have a german shepherd with a cat, said the shelter. A german shepherd would tear a cat up.

Our dear sweet mini schnauzer, Winston, passed away on August 12, 2019 of kidney failure.
His tombstone says it all:
"We loved you all of your life"
"We will miss you all of ours"

Meet Goliah. His mother abandoned his litter and he is the only survivor. He turned six today, six days that is. It is no sure thing he will make it, but he appears to be strong and healthy. I couldn't stand to leave him to die.

You need to wipe its rear end with a warm moist cloth to teach/stimulate him to pee like his mother would have.
Plus many nights of getting up to feed him.
I have raised them that young before.

We had to put Sandy down a couple of weeks ago. She was 13 and could no longer walk without help. We got another puppy from the SPCA to take her place called Bobby. He's eight months old and he is a hellion.

Bobby is the one in the dog bed.

Donna, so sorry for your loss, and also glad you made room for Bobby. People often struggle with the energy and the untrust of a new dog soon after a loss, but I think it does help you heal from the loss.

we lost josephina over the weekend.

she was the last of our original flock of chickens. she was special.
she came to us 8 years ago in july, a silvery gray ball of fluff.
my son liked her the best from day one, and decided to name her after
a long dead great grandmother. she got held a lot when young, and decided she
liked it. as an adult whenever we were outside she would stroll on over wanting to
be picked up. if we were over slow in doing so, we would get a gentle peck on the leg
from her to let us know she was down there waiting.

she was the queen of the coop, top of the pecking order, and wasn't above rebuffing the roosters
she didn't like. she was an easter egger. her adult plumage was white with a burnt orange saddle, and wings
and soft gray on her neck, and beard. over the years she has survived attacks by dogs, fox, coyotes, hawks,
and whatever other predator is out there that likes chicken. she seemed to be more alert, and cautious than
other birds. if she sensed danger she would lickety split to a safe place before the other birds knew what was up.
she seemed to be fit as could be just a week prior, but something must have happened. she declined rapidly over
a three day period, and it was clear the end was near.

we will miss her, but are grateful that she was able to live out her life, and die a natural death rather than be
a meal for some critter. in the chicken world, thats about as good as it gets.
i am pretty sure her genes are in several birds in the remaining flock.
she was a good bird.

Rest in peace, Kelly, a 7 year old male parakeet, hand-fed and raised by me. He looked poorly today, so DH took him to the vet, where he died, cause unknown. Dear Lord, please take the souls of animals to the Rainbow Bridge or better. Yellow wings and a kelly-green belly, he was a happy-go-lucky little guy.

We've just said goodbye to our dear 15 year old whippet, Ernie. He'd run his last mile and in failing health we finally had to make the hard decision. He wasn't the most beautiful of whippets, but he was the most intelligent, placid, and fiercely loyal and was a dutiful older companion to aggi and much loved member of our family.
