That’s interesting. I made gumbo the other day. I cooked the sliced okra in the skillet for 30 minutes until the slime was gone then added it to the gumbo pot, but it wasn’t nearly quite as broken down as in the video. May have to try this method next year.
Didn’t look like he blanched the sliced okra before he froze it, but maybe he did.

You're correct, I don't blanch the okra before freezing it. That would be a slimmy mess. Give this a try, I bet you'll love it as a side dish if you like okra.

Just so as y'all know acid with knock the slime out big time.
Any acid you like.
White wine comes to mind or some sort of citrus juice.
I personally dont mind the slime at all.
I will swallow cold stewed okra with salt and pepper on it whole.
Had my DNA tested and it came back 10% goat.
