I picked these two Cherokee Carbon tomatoes yesterday at first blush because I was afraid the birds would be pecking at them. This morning they looked as though they had ripened a bit further, so I'll probably have nice tasting fresh tomatoes in a few days. My plants have been in the ground for 2 months.

@SpookyShoe what a great Mother's Day gift from your garden. Let us know what you think about them after you indulge.

Got 6/10” of rain early in the morning. Garden looks so fresh and clean after a nice rain like that. Slim has the day off, but Shorty is hard at work protecting the tomatoes. He might need a trip to the barber, he’s been on the job so long.

Viceroy butterfly makes an appearance in the garden. Not one to see everyday

Things blooming here and there. Asiatic day flower and ruelia are invasive and grow like weeds.

Ginger, gomphrena (compact), a few crinum, Asiatic Day flower, ruellia (Mexican petunia).

Like karstopography I saw a Viceroy. I've probably had them, but never noticed the difference between a Monarch and a Viceroy.

First big blue dragonfly of the season. Lurking in the valley on a log, the day before the rain.

@SpookyShoe - did you post pictures of a pink marigold or do you remember seeing it?

I'm pretty sure I didn't, I don't recall ever seeing a pink marigold? I'll have to search the internet and see if one exists.

Pollinator Paradise:

Pentas, Skyscraper orange salvia, a glimpse of Gold Star esperanza, blue plumbago, and some barely visible purple ruellia behind the plumbago. I keep the once functioning water fountain filled with water and the birds use it to drink out of and bathe.

I just love the Skyscraper salvias. I have at least 20 and plan to put in more.

I ended up ordering ‘Strawberry Blonde’ so we’ll see how pink it is.
