No mention of the pies made.
Re: No mention of the pies made.
We have river races here riding in the big ones. It's a fun family event for fall.
My mom and I used to grow the BIG Ones way back when big was 300-500 lbs. I wouldn't even know how to move one of the giants these days. I had a 500 lb one once and I couldn't get it to the weigh offs. One of the judges came and helped me out and it turned out to be the states largest for that year.

Today, the giants are grown on a large wooden pallet (think WalMart aisles), and when maxed out, are then moved by fork lift.MissS wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 3:21 pm We have river races here riding in the big ones. It's a fun family event for fall.

@Tormato mine too were grown on pallets. It helps to prevent bottom rot, keep critters from eating them and promotes easier moving them. Single little ladies just don't keep a fork lift handy. I just don't know why not though it's a better idea than trying to roll them up the hill.
