I didn't even knock a dent in these stupid things.
Just needed a few for fried peppers to go with steak au poivre for a green vegetable.
Yes I consider a pepper a vegetable.

They all got turned into extra virgin olive oil fried peppers for a pasta side with kosher salt on them.
Unbelievably addictive.

I have a half gallon canning jar freshly washed ready for the dreaded ghost peppers.
Now all I gotta do is wait for the sun to come up.

All ghost peppers picked.
Additional ingredients are some ripe serrano chiles and pepperocini.
Plus Guatemalan insanity peppers for extra heat.
Grown in a Guatemalan prison for the criminally insane.
White vinegar 5% acidity.
3 cups of white sugar.
Several whole cloves.
Cinnamon sticks.
1/4 cup lime juice.
About 2 tablespoons of canning salt.
Just filled the jar up with peppers and mashed down while putting in vinegar.
Once full poured into kettle to heat up adding the sugar.
Cloves lime juice and Cinnamon sticks went in cold.
Insanity peppers first picture.
Vinegar added mashing down to remove air pockets.

Biggest I've ever seen.

I just ate a pickled ghost pepper, a small one.
That thing hit me like a freight train.
But I manned up chewed it up and swallowed it.
Talk about hot.

Darn never-ending pepper plants loaded up again and I need to pick them.
I have a friend that wants a jar of pickled ghost peppers.
He's originally from upstate New York but has spent his whole life in Texas.
When it warms up a little more I'm going to pick the ghost peppers and make him a jar.
More habaneros are getting orange as well.

The recent cold but not freezing weather made the ghost and habanero peppers shed all their leaves.
The pepperocini peppers don't seem to care.
Peanut plants starting to turn brown.
Serrano still kicking.

Picked all the habaneros.
Chopped all the pepper plants down loaded with peppers and hauled everything into the garage.
Even managed to find peanuts in the soil and tried one.
Very delicious but left them in the soil.
Totally didn't expect to see peanuts.
Naturally this is because of the killing freeze coming up.
Pepper season is over.

Rather than start a new thread from one year to the next I'm continuing this one.
My Juliet plants are doing fine and I have no idea where I'm going to put all the darn swiss chard seeds that have sprouted.
The twin plants I literally ripped apart with little to no regard for the roots and just stuffed them in the wet soil.
They didn't wilt one bit and they've been in a week now.
Never got around to adding soil either.
Not for sure what I'm going to plant in the other containers.
Maybe cucumbers or something but it's going to be awhile because it's still not warm enough yet.

I also bought a new Tuscan blue rosemary plant and brought it home.
Tossed it out of the truck and into an empty concrete container and forgot about it.
Just walked away like it was an unwanted child.
It's doing fine too.
Or at least it was a few days ago.

Checking the rosemary plant it ain't looking so good.
But the bark is green so it might live.

My soil temperature isn't exactly what I would say prime but it's getting there.
That thermometer is dead on accurate too, because I can calibrate it.

Wow... should be plenty warm for rosemary?
My huge Mrs. Rosemary plant has just been through a very cold week in the greenhouse. Air temperature down to 27F for several mornings in a row, and high of only 32F couple times. The soil managed to stay above freezing, thank goodness. She is looking the worse for wear but still, flowering away and hanging in there.

Probably water neglect on my part.
They do need water but not much.

I went out to fertilize the containers and prepare one for something.
It was the one I grew peanuts in last year.
Low and behold the peanuts I left in the container have started to sprout this years peanut plants.
Who would have thought such a thing.

Transplanted some swiss chard and sowed some mammoth dill seeds in with the volunteer peanuts.
Never ending onions were pulled for the swiss chard.
Also some suspicious looking seedlings coming up that could be some sort of pepper.
Tomato plants trimmed back to top leaves to help prevent soil born disease.
I need to make some spiral wire with my lathe for the tomato plants soon for support.
