Re: The Dawg Patch

Love all your garden photos. They look wonderful. And thanks for all the garden tips and tricks.

Your corn looks beautiful. I grew it one time and it was so starchy and awful tasting. I don’t know what went wrong but not even a cow would have liked it.

Re: Stink Bug Information/ID

I have a pepper plant I do not want so I am going to spray the canned aerosol oil on it as if it had a lot of aphids. It doesn’t, but I want to see if the plant can take the oil with high heat. It is just very easy to grab that can when you don’t have a lot of plants to spray. It does works great wh...

Re: Stink Bug Information/ID

That is amazing. You should post those pics on one of the entomology ID sites. And look how many can hatch from a single stinkbug laying eggs. If you can catch them while they are all congregating together you really make a dent in their population. For stinkbugs or leaf footed bugs , I just put my ...

Re: Winter Tomatoes in Fl. (Plus veggies)

Thanks G.C. , arnorrian, and Barb. I only take pictures of the pretty parts!😆 So much work needs to be done everywhere else but Barb is right about the heat and humidity — yesterday was 95 and the nighttime temp was 80! Barb, I haven’t covered the EBs with plastic yet. And I am also rearranging part...

Re: Building a Raised Bed

Karstopography, those pavers really look nice. Like your cedar bed as well. Cedar down here costs a fortune. When I was in California I saw beds built out of redwood but you would need to take out a mortgage to do that in Florida. Many of my raised beds are now rotten though I did get years of use. ...

Re: Winter Tomatoes in Fl. (Plus veggies)

Here is a phenomenal organic market grower who grows with the seasons between Maine and central Florida. (He was interviewed by Pete Kanaris Green Dreams.) No raised beds with solid sides just layered compost over many years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8MMhaHttUY&t=633s Pete Kanaris Green Drea...

Re: Building a Raised Bed

. I will choose my site much more carefully since you mentioned that about trees, since Ive never had a raised bed, Advice to stay away from trees also has a lot to do with shading of the bed particularly depending on the time of year. I have a raised bed probably only 10 or 15 feet from a huge gig...

Those look very nice. Much prettier than concrete block. Did you have to mortar or concrete glue them together?

Re: Free shipping from A M Leonard this weekend

I agree that they should mention this in the promotion. All I know is I tried to order around 120 pounds of ‘stuff’ and despite the discount code it kept charging me for heavy freight so I called them. I can understand putting a limit on the weight that qualifies for free shipping but that info shou...

Re: Free shipping from A M Leonard this weekend

There is a weight limitation on the free shipping. I called and I believe they told me it was 90 pounds but you would have to double check that. The representative, who was super nice, said I could just put in 2 orders online and use the code twice. (ADDED: This may be wrong. I THINK YOU CAN ONLY US...

Marsha, I find these videos because I am addicted to YouTube like a kid to their video games. I do learn stuff but nothing much gets done. I need intervention. I have close to 240 subscriptions which I need to go through and weed some out. I even pay a premium, I think it is $11 a month to wat...

Building a Raised Bed

Does anybody have any good videos or personal experience with raised beds?

Here is one building with concrete blocks.
