OhioGardener, I had totally forgotten about the 1993 coup attempt .. see how we get old?! I had mixed the two coups in my mind, how shameful :D

That was how Yeltsin consolidated power... and held it through the 90's ... passing the baton to his protege Putin, now the 'eternal president' more or less...

Agree that tomatoes are interesting... maybe not more than politics, but less controversial..!

I assume that the seeds in the swap labeled "Lady Fingers 2019" are the indeterminate plums, not the determinate OP red plums or the F1 cherries!

Lady Fingers
https://nikitovka.com/en/tomato/1184-to ... 00140.html
Early (100-110 days) Russian heirloom variety. Indeterminate Tomato plant with unlimited grow. Unique elongated, red tomatoes, with a very good taste.

Lady’s Fingers ( Damskye Palchiki)
https://croatianseeds-store.com/index.p ... ers-detail
75-85 days. Determinate, tall and vigorous RL plants. Red plums, 3-4 oz., excellent sweet flavor.

or Lady Finger
https://njaes.rutgers.edu/tomato-variet ... ady+Finger
Hybrid. Late. RL Determinate, 5 ft. Fruit 0.5 oz. Small pointed red.

If you have the open-pollinated Russian variety, Nikitovka has this variety listed on its Russian language page as "ДАМСКИЕ ПАЛЬЧИКИ" which is "Damskie Palchiki" or Lady Fingers. Some of their descriptions haven't always been accurate in my experience, so it's likely the same variety offered by Croatian Seeds. According to Russian sites, it's supposed to be determinate to about 60 cm producing small plums resistant to disease, cool weather and cracking and it's an early variety (~100 days from seed). It's also supposed to be an older Soviet variety that got patented and added to the state register in 2006. Here are some links with photos: http://sortoved.ru/tomat-pomidor/sort-t ... chiki.html

Tormato Can you shed any light on the size/color/taste of Elbonian Hip Deep tomatoes? I'm trying to trim down my list and I plan to grow it, so thought maybe something else I have on the list can get cut if they have similar fruit to EHD. Thanks!

Does anyone have information on Sylvano's pole bean? I've had it a few years, grown it, sent it back in to the swap - would like any history / info. Thanks!

Nan6b I so appreciate the extra information provided on your labels about the seeds you shared. It's a good idea I should keep in mind for next time! I received some Timpurii seeds and like trying new earlies - do you remember if they are determinate or indeterminate, or how tall do they get? Just trying to figure out where to put them.

Size is to 12 ounces, many are boat-shaped beefsteaks. Flavor, to me is good, sweet and clean, not earthy like most blacks I've trialed (including Elbonian Mud Ball). It grows short for me, with low to medium production. Elbonian Mudslinger is the best black I've ever trialed, but a long way from stable (like me).

From lakelady (@T'ville) to me, grown for 100+ years in NJ, originally from Italy. A black-seeded, long, flat, green-podded romano type pole bean.

Just dumped the envelope. For all those that chipped in, thank you. To the main dude that made it happen, many thanks. So much fun on a super bowl morning.
Gary, is this your creation? PI 129129 '19. If it's top secret could you just give me color and size of fruit. I will find a spot for it regardless.

PI129129 was one that I sent in. I ordered and grew it as a curiosity from the Seed Saver's Exchange seedbank. When I researched it, I found it listed as a USDA accession that's been buried in history after apparently being part of an early agricultural collection by the Agricultural Experimental Station of Logan, Utah. The following is the description I've added to my SSE listing:

"If it were up to me to name this variety, it would be "Dulce Panameño." Described in the 1949 USDA inventory as a medium-size round red fruit collected from a market in Panama, May 10, 1938. When grown out, fruits were intensely red, cherry-sized, and quite sweet with a wonderful flavor. Moderately productive by today's standards. Indeterminate, regular leaf. Mid-season. Heat resistant."

You can find the original USDA reference on page 48 of the link below.

I give my (unauthorized) approval for you naming it "Dulce Panemeno". Now to change the label on my last seed pack. And, one of these years I may be able to figure out how to get that squiggly thing over the n to show up.

Rockoe10 I think the pronunciation is easier.....
The behaviour of light means you observe me as i was then, and not as I am now.
I cannot change history, so I do hope i gave you a good impression of myself

Or just toggle your smartphone keyboard to Spanish and you get the funky "n" key. :D :D :D

Ain't gonna happen. The only paste I know is flour and water. High tech for me is Elmer's. :(
