This is the thread for posting what you ARE sending in (not what you think you are going to send in). If you want your package to be a complete surprise, read no further. If you'd like to form some of your wish list from this thread, read further.

After reaching 25 varieties, you can then list "types" (from the categories) of tomatoes you'd like.

i'll add things as we go. still too early for most things.

i will have black hungarian pepper, and indian finger pepper seeds.
these were eight year old seeds from baker creek that still had some life in them.
they are growing in the back of my truck, and liking it.
i also have a pile of seeds on a plate from mountaineer hubbard squash from sandhill preservation.
the big caveat with these seeds is i made no attempt to prevent cross pollination from occurring with
the gray sugar hubbard i grew in the same plot last year. the only other winter squash growing was scarchuks supreme.
i forget if scarchuks can cross with the hubbard types or not.
i have a hill growing from saved seeds and two hills of true mountaineer. i am seeing some squash that are a lighter shade
of orange than mountaineer. the mountaineer are a deeper orange than the citrus orange.
in the event of crossing, sugar hubbard, and scarchuks supreme are in my opinion superb tasting squash.
if anyone wants some seeds i will send some to gary. no guarantee on true to type or not.

I think all hubbards are C. maxima and Scarchuk's Supreme is C. pepo, which should mean no crossing.

Can some seeds of Scarchuk's make it into the swap? Over the years, I've had several requests for it (supposedly because of its SVB resistance, due to Dr. Scarchuk breeding for the thickest of vines). I gave away the last of my old seed several years ago. A search back then could find no, at that time, current vendor.

i can't open up a new window to post, so i will add on here.
8/18.
gary,
sandhill preservation has scarchuks supreme if anybody wants seeds to purchase. glenn thinks highly of it.
unless he has crop failure, scarchuks will always be listed.

i did save seeds last year from a scarchuks supreme. i can check the seed stash. no guarantee on purity although
i don't know what it could have crossed with in my garden.

this year, i am growing scarchuks, and thelma sanders, so all bets on purity are off.
thelma is a nice girl, and all, but i don't trust her. i see thelma, and scarchuks side by side in one
part of the garden, but then when i was picking some striata di italia, i saw a white squash underneath the zucchini.
i thought i had a mutant squash for a second, but i quickly realized it was just thelma snugging up with the summer squash.
can't really blame her for getting friendly with a big good looking italian, but this two timing, i just can't have it.

Sending in a few flowers and the usual tomatoes and peppers. Also a good size bag of castor bean seed. I use these in certain areas to shade late summer plantings of lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, etc. Those big solar panels do a great job. As the weather cools I cut the leaves off. The spiney pods hold 3-4 seeds. These stay under 9 feet tall.

I'll edit and add to this post as I finish the current year's seed saving and go through my tomato, bean, and veggie seeds. The pumpkins and watermelon were all the only one of their species grown during their harvest year and there are no close neighbor gardens.

1. Tomato - M's Sunsugar- Mandy's Greenhouse selection. This year, indistinguishable from Sungold F1 planted side-by-side. Last year was also excellent. Did produce 1 off type out of 6 plants with paler fruit, so may not be 100% stable yet.

2. Tomato - Bychye Serdtse Rozovoe, From Moscow with Debbie Premus in 1991 - Pink Bull's Heart

3. Tomato - Chernyi Princ, From Moscow with Debbie Premus in 1991 - Translates to" Black Prince.". This strain has much larger, sweeter fruit than the variety sold under the name "Black Prince."

4. Pepper - Jigsaw (the one offered through Baker Creek with purple/white/green variegated foliage). Not bagged.

See non tomato/pepper list for other items.

Tomato - Bychye Serdtse Rozovoe, 1991 Premus strain - Pink Bull's Heart
Tomato - Chernyi Princ, 1991 Premus strain - Black Prince beefsteak
How are these two different from the original Premus?

They're totally different varieties that I brought back from USSR/CIS when I was there in 1991 and 1993. Both were coup/revolution years I might add! I have a knack for picking exciting vacation dates, don't I?

Bychye Serdtse Rozovoe came from my friend's mom in Moscow in 1991 and is an indeterminate pink oxheart that *occasionally* throws a black heart. This translates to "Pink Bull's Heart" and is a Soviet-era garden-to-garden strain from that period.

Chernyi Princ came from a Belorussian biologist who visited me in Moscow in 1993 (1991 was a typo) and is an indeterminate black beefsteak. It translates to "Black Prince" but is not the same as the strain commonly marketed here because the tomatoes are larger and more beefsteak than slicer type and with to my tastes a more complex balanced flavor.

Both of these, along with the rest of my 1991/1993 collection were donated this year to SeedSavers seedbank, by the way.

Woah Debbie!
That Black Prince looks like dark and complex yumminess...Love it!

Your Premus is pumping out tomatoes for me now too. I would highly encourage others to try it. A manageable dwarf with good production that has withstood disease and heat in my gardenImage

i just ate half of one of the light orange mountaineer crosses.
it was very good. it had a sweet dry earthy flavor similar to the
gills sugar hubbard. next to try is the squash that is light orange
with a variegated green. nice looking squash. if that one tastes
good then i will be sending in a pile of seeds from 2020.
they will be experimental of course, but i am more than satisfied
with the flavor.
these will be f1 seeds. this might be a fun project for future grow outs
if you have the space. these winter squash grow all over the place.
