Actually clothes dryer lint.
I have an 8 month old tomato plant indoors from last year and wrapped the lint around the stem
in a ball and kept it damp.
I repotted today and the plant sent out roots where the lint was.
So I gained a few extra roots.
Some varieties will send out a lot of roots, others just a few new hairs.

Barbara Eden couldn't show her belly button it the 1960's tv show I dream of Jeannie.
She had an outie and it was too distracting for viewers.

That trick of wrapping lint to get roots sounds a lot like air layering, done to branches to get a new plant. Except air layering never worked for me on trees. But tomato plants like to root.

Barbara Eden.'
The eyes and smile is what made my day.
The woman is a real class act.
