Shout Out for Honey Drop

Every year I trial at least 1 new Cherry tomato and this year it was Honey Drop.
I have to say I’m really satisfied. It ticks all my criteria:

Flavor beyond just sweetness
No cracking or splitting fruit despite adverse weather, humidity and heat (I’m in N. Florida)
Decently healthy foliage

Honey Drop is a keeper.

Is it the same as Medovaya Kaplia?

Is your Honey Drop the one that is an OP version of Sunsugar, as sold by Fedco & Hudson Valley? There seem to be at least two different tomatoes sold under this name, which is why I'm asking. On my monitor, your tomatoes look red, but that may be an issue with my monitor or just the lighting in the photo; are they gold/orange like Sungold & Sunsugar? How does the taste compare? Your plants look great!

Barmaley,

Medovya Kaplya is yellow and looks like Yellow Pear (but supposedly tastes a lot better!)

It apparently does go by that name as well.

Medovaya Kaplia does go by the name Honey Drop BUT it is yellow and pear-shaped, so it is unlike the red cherry being shown here.

My seed came from Renaissance Farms: https://renaissancefarms.org/product/honey-drop-tomato/

They start out orange and ripen to almost brick red. They are much darker than Sungold; I haven’t grown Sunsugar.
I really like them!

Don’t think so ... but Curtis at Renaissance Farms doesn’t go into the breeding for Honey Drop.

It sounds like both varieties are still unstable. Pink Princess is unstable per Fedco and regular leaf and potato leafed plants have been reported on this site. Honeydrop is throwing different colored fruit on each plant. Apparently it's yellow 2 out of 3 times.

Yes, that’s what Curtis said.
My plant is regular leaf, with typical vigorous cherry tomato growth.
Whatever its origins I’m enjoying Honey Drop and will grow it again next year.

Tried to get a closeup of ripening truss.

Just my 2 cents, if you like the tomato you found just grow it and enjoy! :)
In my garden I have grown Honeydrop from Fedco as well as Medovaya Kaplya for several seasons in the same beds at the same time. I have never gotten anything resembling close to a red cherry. Honeydrop is smaller than Sungold in my garden, and is paler and lighter in color. It was a nice cherry but not a wonderful cherry. Medovaya Kaplya is completely different. Elongated pear shaped and very yellow, Just a fantastic flavor yet different from Sungold.
