Interesting story about a gentleman who created the pluot and an almond that doesn't require bee pollination among other successes.

Thanks for sharing. I knew about Luther Burbank, but not Floyd Zaiger (although I'm familiar with his work). That's no fun that he died. It's good to read about what he did.

I have yet to try a Pluot, but we had a plumcot tree. It was prolific, and earlier than a plum, but later than an apricot. I'd like to try a pluot, an aprium, a peacotum, and all that. Pluots look a lot bigger than the plumcots we had.

His name is famous here in CA among fruit lovers. I bought a Zee Nectaplum 3 years ago & it's a most beautiful tree. The leaves are purple & the gorgeous flowers are pink. It's a hybrid between a plum & white nectarines; unfortunately I prefer the yellow ones but the fruits are fought over by family & friends.

Will eat anything once before I judge.
Anything meaning any foods of course.
