First Micros Picked!

I was turning the micros under the lights today and there they were, hiding underneath that dense Red Robin foliage! Four cherries looked like they were ripe so I picked the two that looked the most ready and I think they still need a day or two more. The plant was started from seed Oct 30.

Some of the newer micros are now too tall for the light shelves so I hung the second light fixture above the other table and now all micros are living there. LOTS of room to raise the lights! That's 'Chibikko' on the far right . It was started Dec 14 and is bigger all the rest, including the three started 10/30. I'm going to need to shift that one up to a 1 gallon pot soon. It's about 12" tall now with flowers.

Wow, seed to fruit in only 86 days for that Red Robin! Did you do anything special for it to fruit that quickly or is that just in its nature?

They tasted pretty good to me! Good tomato flavor with just a hint of acidity behind it.

I didn't really do anything special. They got a glug of Miracle Grow now and then when I'd think about it. Buds and flowers got the electric toothbrush tickle. As the greenies got larger I started being careful about the watering, just keeping them moist when the pot started feeling a bit light. I also kept the lights a few inches about the plants. I use regular T8 shop lights. One tube is a 6500k and the other is a 3500k, a combination that someone recommended during a discussion on lighting over at T-ville maybe last year or year before. The combo was supposed to (theoretically) cover a broader spectrum of light. Whether it does or not, I get good results and that's fine by me!
