I haven't seen a masked person since the hurricane hit
people are stunned by all the fallen trees.
houses smashed cars smashed
power still out
garden plants that survived have salt spray damage.

Sorry to hear about all that, @slugworth. So many people were hit bad by this storm! This is why I consider myself lucky, to have get a few broken off plants. Take care, and I hope things pick up for you quickly.

amazing,the minimalists in the area.
This is my 5th hurricane, so pretty well prepared.
Other neighbors don't even have a flashlight.
Lots of people lost freezers of food.
I was able to buy gas this a.m. finally.

Ya'll need a big giant community kettle to cook all that frozen meat that will go to waste.
Hurricane stew.

Nephew's wife put in a credit card order to a restaurant via phone.
Gets there and doors are locked, nobody answers the phone.
CC got charged.
Let the scamming begin.

Internet is iffy.
I am on my third provider just to get here.
52 hours so towers could be pooping out.
One tower is out on duck island.

The battery in my hotspot pooped out, so it would only work when the generator was running.
Back it the spring it got bloated,so it was surgically removed and I had a Li-ion battery connected with alligator clips.
It was disconnected,so I reconnected and working fine again.
I have an old style electric clock with hands on the generator.
I set it for 12:00 and start the generator,so it's a run time meter.
I get 12 hours from 1 tank of gas, running the fridge constantly and charging 12v batteries.
I am going to start the furnace, because fish and visitors smell in 3 days.

Garden-wise I am just waiting for certain tomatoes to get ripe so I can save seeds.
I can't pump rain water and we are in a drought.

I was able to siphon gas out of the truck.
The joblot store still had plenty of pumps.
I just needed it for the hoses, which I spliced together with 3/8 copper tubing.
Kids today don't know about siphon fun.Probably why the store had plenty.
Somebody ripped off the nozzle from the last gas container.Making that unable to sell.

Glad you finally got it back, @slugworth! Each day more and more get it back, but I still see that there are a lot w/o power.

Last night I had a storm more intense than the tropical storm, as far as rain and thunder and lightning - got about 1.35" in around 40 min. Down south of me is where it hit bad - I kept hearing and seeing it, but not much wind, whereas they got another tornado down there.

we are in a drought here plus the salt spray damage makes it look like the wicked witches feet under the house.
The 1st time we ever had a hurricane with no rain.
My wind gauge only goes up to 60mph and I lost the vane off it when that was exceeded.
I did find it 20 feet away and put it back on.
My 5th hurricane and I am still learning valuable lessons.
One thing I told people last time was to stock up on those solar lights and leave them outside during the day
to charge, then bring them indoors at night on the floor for nightlights.

Sally about to make landfall at 2 miles an hour.
Another pod of storms brewing in the Atlantic.
It's like the whole area is storms coming out of Africa.
