Ewww yes, Mercurochrome and Merthiolate. My Mom kept both on hand. Not sure which hurt worse.
I sure do remember that stuff! And we sure were glad when Bactine came along and the red stuff went into the trash. :D

I miss the days of ten dollar lids and 25 cent beers.
I haven't heard the term "lid" used to describe a quantity of weed in many decades! Not since I was in college ( the first time), LOL.
I guess I'm older as I recall $5/lid. Now, 'lid' refers to my bicycle helmet.

Years ago, we had helmets for our motor bike which we called "skid lids".

When I was a kid, my Dad put straight Iodine on my cuts - Ouch!

Yep. And "fashion" was no longer about what the general public would wear, it was there just for the shock value.

Learning to sew in Home Ec class on a treadle machine.

We had about 35 girls in the class and only a few electric machines, so most of us treadled away.

We went to elementary school carrying the viruses and bacteria for mumps, measles, chicken pox, colds, and strep throat, and it was No. Big. Deal.

Actually, my brother & I were probably the only kids on our street to not get our tonsils out. I remember thinking how unfair it was that my friends got to have all the popsicles and ice cream they wanted while I had to eat such awful stuff as meatloaf. 😂

We kids in our family had our tonsils too.

There certainly were a lot of kids that had their tonsils taken out. I wonder if it is still as commonplace today?

I always had a lot of guy friends who I remember with fond memories and I had "girlfriends" over the years. I didn't have any "girl" friends. I seem to remember an unwritten rule that when you had a girlfriend, you were not allowed to have girl friends. I think I missed out on something by not having girl friends. I later learned girls think more clearly about many things and I could have learned a lot from them. When I was thirteen or fourteen, a couple of girls in their late teens approached me wanting to educate me. I ran like a baby.

I read something recently by Twiggy saying she hated the pixie cut and fought against cutting her hair. Had she not allowed it to be cut, she would probably still be unknown.

I can still smell the either on a rag over my nose. Our school system required a certificate showing your tonsils were removed before you could start the first grade. We also had to present our smallpox vaccination scar on our upper arm to begin school.
