What is your, 'Top Ten Favorite Foods?
Foods you simply can't do without.
Y'all go first because I have to think about it and make a list.

Let's see...tomatoes, garlic, onions, chili peppers (I'll count that as one, even though I have about a hundred), basil (again, I'll count as one), mint, rosemary, thyme, parsley, and I guess for one meat, chicken, but I haven't even started on all of those veggies, except tomatoes and chilis, and fillers, like beans, lentils, masa, rice, breads...

Or did you mean foods that we make, that we can't go without? That might be easier to answer, at least until down to the tenth dish.

This is hard, too limiting. Be much easier to list 10 I can live without. Are we allowed to have butter and other sort of basic pantry items?

1.Corn in its various forms. That would be my starch. So many ways to manipulate corn. Hominy, meal, flour, etc., corn cakes, tamales, tortillas, corn bread, polenta, grits, posole. Corn way beats wheat and barley. Rice might be a second, but one starch is enough.
2. Red drum, redfish. Very versatile, baked, broiled, blackened, fried, all delicious. Good, sustainable and nutritious
3. Wild Gulf of Mexico shrimp, white or brown. So many ways to prepare this.
4. Citrus. If I had to nail down the type, I’d probably pick lime, then orange.
5. Cilantro, I’m in the love it category.
6. Tuscan Kale. Weird, but I love this and don’t want a life without it.
7. Garlic would narrowly edge out onions, just barely.
8. Jalapeños, what else can I say.
9. Onions, cause I’m running out of numbers.
10. Last but not least, tomatoes.

With the list above, I’ve got everything I need to make a taco. What more could a boy want? Pork belly (bacon) would be real nice to have as well. Maybe I’ll jettison something else off the list and add bacon.

My diet lately:
Cottage cheese
Icelandic Skyr yogurt
Broccoli
Lettuce or greens
Baby carrots
Olives
Garbanzo beans
Caesar dressing
Garlic

And then #10 is beer, so it balances out all the healthy stuff.

I had a feeling you meant something like that.

1. First thing that comes to mind is a Thai curry, with homemade curry paste, fresh lime leaves, and served with jasmine rice.
2. Pasta with raw tomato sauce - hot pasta dumped on diced fresh tomatoes, garlic, a lot of basil, and olive oil. First thing I make every season, when I get enough tomatoes ripen to add up to 1 1/2 lbs.
3. The lentil salad I make countless times in the summer, once the tomatoes begin ripening non-stop.
4. Tacos, just about any kind, made with soft corn tortillas, and homemade salsas.
5. Jambalaya
6. Countless kinds of breads, but mostly the rye breads, the Old Milwaukee Rye being the bread I have probably baked more of than any other.
7. Mole
8. Indian sambars, made with a homemade sambar masala, and fresh curry leaves.
9. Ice cream.
10. BROWNIES!!! (Saved the best for last)

I really could have listed many more sweets, but I limited myself to 2.

Keep it up, I'm making my list as you all know I love food and it is hard to nail down just ten.
But with mine each one has to have a story, there always has to be a story.
Oh and by the way you can put desert in another list so it doesn't have to be in the top ten list.
On the side you might say.

A lot of my favorites are tied, and many of those won't make this list, not because I like them less, but because of the limit here. Unfortunately, I usually do without most of my favorites, whether I want to or not (I'm not usually the one shopping for the food). So, here are some of my favorites:

* Pizza (it should have a thick, soft-ish crust, lots of tomato pizza sauce, hamburger as the meat, and as many other toppings as possible, almost, but especially olives, onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers; it should have a liberal amount of cheese; alternatively, regular Hawaiian pizza is another favorite, as long as it has the circular fine thin soft Canadian bacon, and not the coarser, thicker, non-round chunks of ham; if we get store-bought pizza, I like Papa Murphy's take and bake combination, Cowboy, and Chicago pizzas; there are other kinds I like at least as much, but I'm not sure what they are, although Showbiz Pizza and Pizza Hut had pretty great pizza back in the 1980's and/or 1990's; I think Chicago Connection's combination with mushrooms on it might have been a favorite in the 1980's and/or 1990's; I love pizza buffets, also)
* Spaghetti with meat sauce (tomato-based spaghetti sauce with hamburger or ground turkey as the meat—not sausage), not meatballs (but if there are meatballs, they should be 100% hamburger—no sausage; they shouldn't squeak when I eat them). The fat from the meat should be drained enough so that the pasta doesn't seem greasy.
* Spicy teriyaki chicken and rice (well, I'd probably prefer rice noodles, but yeah; I mean like the spicy chicken bowls at Teriyaki Stix, if you've ever had them; it's like fast food / takeout teriyaki)
* Thai curry with coconut milk, limes, chicken, and a bunch of other stuff (This seriously amazed me the first seven times I had it or so)
* Cherry pie made with home-canned sour cherries (they look almost brown when canned), with homemade crust from an old pie crust recipe (not one of these modern ones); by old, I mean like the 1980's, not the 1880's. Ideally, the pie should have a top crust with pastry leaves, too, with sugar sprinkled on it before baking, and be eaten with the sort of whipped cream you get in plastic tubs. It should be a large pie (not a small or medium one).
* Blackberry desserts (either blackberry cream desserts or blackberry deserts with the sort of whipped cream that comes in a plastic tub)
* The fried codfish that my Grandma made me once. I've never had fried fish like it again (so far). The next best-tasting fried fish I've had were battered largemouth bass, and crappie.
* Lasagna with sliced green olives cooked in it (in between the layers). Plenty of tomato-based lasagna sauce inside and plenty of cheese melted on top. I don't care whether it's ricotta or cottage cheese between the layers.
* Hamburgers, well-done, ideally with lots of ketchup, sliced onions (or fried onions), mustard, dill pickles, thin tomato slices, a little mayonnaise, thinly sliced cheese, lettuce, and maybe other stuff. Blended tomatoes and Allium greens mixed with salt and vinegar can be a good substitute for ketchup, if there's no ketchup, but I prefer to dip the hamburger in it, if I do that. I like Big Mac's, and similar, Jumbo Jacks, hamburgers at Denny's, and pretty much most hamburgers.
* Mexican and hybrid Mexican-American food generally, with the exception of a few dishes. I like burritos a lot. I like black olives, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and corn chips with a lot of such food.

Really, though, the hardest thing to do without for me is probably peanut butter and raspberry jam (or honey) sandwiches with 2% milk (ideally Great Value milk), made with Skippy Natural peanut butter—but, I eat those regularly, currently, sans the Great Value brand for the milk. The second hardest thing to do without is pizza (which I haven't had since before the stay at home order, although I could make some).

It's hard to let this list go without also mentioning my love for General Tsao's chicken, sesame chicken, and orange chicken mixed with either chicken fried rice, or rice noodles with immitation crab and scrambled eggs. Egg rolls along with those are nice, too.

Okay I have waited long enough.
First, top ten should have been favorite foods so do as you wish.
First on the list is spaghetti and meatballs.
I love the stuff.
I remember the last time my mom made it and I so loved the stuff, it was like a once a year dish.
My brother in law and sister were down and I only got one helping because the greedy dog of a brother in law had three helpings because he didn't have any table manners and gobbled his hood.
If I would have done what he did at the table I would have been properly scolded and sent to my room.
The lazy dog had to borrow money from my parents just for gas money to drive back home to Mo.
I never will forget it, he was sitting there stuffed like a fat tick and I was still hungry.

Beef vegetable soup.
Ground beef or stew meat doesn't matter to me.
Even both will do.
My mom caught my niece taking out the entire roast she had cut up for the soup one time.
Must have been ten pounds of meat on her plate.
No vegetables.
She made her put it back.
The girl was only about 11 years old.

Stuffed peppers.
All types.
Mom used the bake stuffed bell peppers in an old oval magnalite roaster.
No rice filler just home grown ground beef with onions and such and garden fresh bell peppers.
Slathered on top with ketchup.
I could eat these things for days.

Interesting, these various foods mentioned as favorites. Some of the top ten favorites would be on my 10 least favorite foods list. I guess it’s like cilantro, some taste a wonderful fresh and interesting herbal flavor and others taste soap. Oatmeal was mentioned as a favorite. For myself, Oatmeal’s taste and texture has way too much in common with wet cement and I’ve worked with enough wet cement to know.

My wife likes oatmeal. We definitely aren’t 100 percent compatible on food. She HATES lamb. I adore lamb. She despises goat cheese, says it tastes like fur. I think it’s tangy and delicious. There’s more than enough we agree on to enjoy dinners together.

Can't stand traditional pulled pork.
Love cochinita pibil.
Probably my favorite Mexican foods.
I made this stuff as traditional as I could and my first taste was like an explosion of flavor in my mouth.
So much so even the heat of the habanero won't let me stop eating it.
Simply amazing.

A good New England clam chowder.
Preferably homemade but I'll take it anyway you put it before me.
Can't say enough good about it.
One week I worked so many long days I had it every night with crackers.
One of my mom's favorites too.
There was a truck stop in town we used to eat at sometimes.
Back in the 60's.
She always got the homemade clam chowder.
Didn't see many trucks with sleepers back then.
