Hi all,

Finally I found a forum for tomato growers!!! For month I was trying to log on Tomatoville but the farther I could get was to create an account. Nobody bothered to activate my account so I could not post or see pictures for about a month!!! I send numerous emails to Mishka and at all other possible email accounts at the site but his email was not functioning as well as all others! Hopefully this site will work and I am very excited to make new friends here!!!

Welcome from Centre County, PA.

(I had similar problems getting into TV. It was frustrating.)

Oh, we can tell what part of PA he is from answers to a few questions. These type questions used to draw the lines up in state college.
1. What do you call a can of coca-cola or other carbonated beverage? "No I'll run in, you stay here, do you want a drink? / Yeah I could go for a ____"
2. What do you call a sandwich made with ham salami provolone LTO in a 12" roll? "I'm ordering some ______s, do you want one?"
2a. What condiment do you want put on the roll of that sandwich?
3. What brand of scapple do you like?
4. Greeting a group of friends: you guys or y'ins

I had never heard of it till I married a Pennsylvanian. One of my favorite foods. Every fall a group of oldtimers get together to socialize and make scrapple. One of them is a friend who brings us 2 large pans of warm, fresh scrapple which we let set for two days. We then enjoy some and freeze the rest. The grandsons in Arizona love it as one of their Christmas gifts (have to pack it carefully in hand luggage- always amazed that the TSA checkers in Newark know what it is and allow it to go!)

I found out what it was from the Frugal Gourmet Jeff Smith way back when in the very early 80's on PBS.
I have eaten similar foods all my life and very tasty if I may say so.
It is more of a German dish not Dutch.
PA Dutch is a misunderstanding from the word Deitsche which translates to PA German.
A very good and more healthy option over corn meal is Masa Harina.
I can get large bags of Masa Harina easier than I can corn meal where I live any day of the week.
I know a little about PA because I have had many friends from there at one time or another.
The most colorful was WW Buck god rest his soul.
Good lord the accent that guy had.
