Hello from Leander, TX!

Hello, friends new and old! I'm Kelly, also known as TexasTycoon on a similar site.

I'm an amateur container gardener living in central TX with my husband, my two year old daughter, and my two senior basset hounds. We live in a house that we rent from my father-in-law, but haven't moved away from container gardening just yet as we don't own the house and plan to buy our own home some time within the next year or so. We're working from home due to the pandemic, so I've finally been able to dive back into gardening after taking some time away from it after the birth of my daughter.

We're currently not growing any tomatoes, but have plans for a fall garden and I'll be starting Black Beauty and Dr. Wyche seeds inside next month! Other plants in our garden right now include: Love Lies Bleeding amaranth, Hopi Red Dye amaranth, Genovese basil, Dark Opal basil, Purple Podded Pole Beans, echinacea, giant zinnias, Red Dwarf marigolds, Italian oregano, and a bunch of sunflowers that the birds planted from birdseed.

Fall plans include the two aforementioned tomato varieties, Red of Florence onions, calendula, Holy basil, Indian coriander, another round of Purple Podded Pole Beans, Black Nebula carrots, Japanese Giant Red mustard, red-stemmed Doublemint, some garlic I haven't yet purchased, and a sad Cherokee Purple plant I grabbed for $0.50 off the Lowe's clearance shelf today. Growing entirely in 5 gallon buckets, Patio Pickers boxes, metal window boxes, and various other containers I've drilled holes into to keep my costs down.

Happy to be here and looking forward to excellent container advice!!

Welcome Kelly. I was just thinking of you and your baby the other day. I'm glad that you finally have the time to get back into the garden again.

Welcome. Oddly enough, I'm a 6th generation Leanderite, and now I live just down the road in that odd place between CP and RR. There's some other localish folks around here as well.

A seed not planted is guaranteed not to grow.
