This is an interesting take on fertilization with alfalfa.

I have never taken the time to make alfalfa tea but I have been known to use the pellets in the spring as a soil amendment. Be careful not to use them too thickly as they do heat up in a hurry and you don't want to burn your young plants. The worms do seem to love them too.

"pounds of good smelling microbes"... love it.
It is so true about compost, our own garden compost is the best dirt I have, and for sure will grow big plants without extra N. I think it's all the worms at work, they are basically manuring the plant continually. 8-)

I recently bought a bag of Foxfarms happy frog tomato and vegetable organic fertilizer and it is mainly alfalfa meal along with bone meal and other things so I would imagine that alfalfa pellets would make a good organic nitrogen fertilizer.

Official analysis of alfalfa hay is 2.45-.5-2.10. That would be close to what the pellets would be. Works great in gardens and compost piles.
