Earless corn
I'm growing corn for the first time, so I've sown Glass corn in 25 liter (6.5 gallons) buckets, two or three per bucket. I was a bit late in doing so. The plants are nice and green and about 1.8m (6 ft) tall, with tassels just starting to emerge. But I don't see ears on any of the plants. There is some yellowing of bottom leaves, so I've been fertilizing in the last three weeks, and watering every day. Is it possible that the ears are late in emerging, or is is a lost cause?

Re: Earless corn
I don't know anything about the variety you are growing, but our Silver Queen first puts out tassels followed by tiny tufts of silks & husks at the junctures of leaves and stems. Keep checking and I bet you will see some soon. Not sure what your bug pressure is, but we put bT down inside the developing ears to prevent cornworms. Now if that only worked on raccoons

Yes, the tassels appear before the ears. Be patient and you will soon have ears.

Late to the party on this one. I sometimes have had tassels appear a month before the silks. Knowing this, I freeze some of the pollen, just in case.

I’m planning on growing baby corn next season. Supposed to be quick and productive. 3 ears per plant. Going to pickle it or just use it fresh.
Crazy how diverse corn is.

I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Hand pollination helped. I'll grow more next year.
