Adding more to the fert strip later in the season?

Has anyone tried adding more fertilizer to the top strip in EBs after the plants were already growing in them? I pulled out a tomato that wasn't looking well; since I grow 2 to a box, I want to plant another one in it's empty slot. It's a good sized seedling I grew from a cutting. So can I add some more fert now, assuming the original is somewhat depleted? I planted my EBs back in late Mar/early Apr.
Thanks.

I never added any more to the strip, but I have added some soluble fertilizer to the reservoir, to give them a boost.

pepperhead212 I do that also, but wondered if adding more to the strip would be more beneficial in the long term?

I never added more to the strip either but in previous years, I would add the 2nd plant as you are intending on doing. And it never was a great producer. This season, I just pulled the plant and left the space and the original remaining plant produced so much more.

This year, on the few EB, where I just pulled both plants, I dumped the EBs and the reservoir was so full of roots I can see why adding the 2nd plant in the prior years never did much. I will continue dumping the EBs if I am going to swap plants.

Next season, I am going to have some EB started with just one plant.
