I have a half whisky barrel with an old fashioned hand pump connected to a pond pump.
Birds love it. Here's a shot of a hummer taking a dip.

Hummingbirds are attracted to the color red. I wonder if it was actually looking for food?

There is no red in my fountain and birds of all types visit it including hummingbirds. They hear the sound of the water and come for that. I heard an expert suggest that if we want to attract birds to water to hang a bottle that drips into water so birds can hear it and know there is water nearby.
A water feature attracts almost as many types of birds as a feeder does. I have only hummingbird feeders but all the local birds visit for the water.

Very cool photo, thanks for sharing. Hummingbirds are about as interesting as it gets in the overall fascinating world of birds. I’ve seen chickadees and titmouse bathing and having a good time in the sprinkler, but i haven’t noticed the hummingbirds in the water. The little hummers are easy to miss. I’ve been hearing the hummingbirds lately fighting over the mimosa tree in bloom that’s near the vegetable garden.

That's really cool QAGUY I have never seen one bathing. I have seen them go to all kind of red objects that are not feeders, looking for food but I guess that they occasionally need a bath too!

Very cool. My hummingbirds love to bathe. I enjoy watering my garden by hand with the hose and shooting a fine spray far across the beds. The birds come and play in the mist. Then I will shoot the water up into the trees to get the foliage wet. The birds come and bathe in the leaves that are pooled with water. They are a joy to watch for sure.

I wish that they did too. I feel bad that you over there miss experiencing these little birds. They are a lot of fun to watch.

My hummers must like being dirty. They will not come around for at least an hour after I water the plants!

You probably have all males.

No, we have females too. They're as bad as the males about avoiding getting clean!
