It's been a long time since I've seen one of these. Welcome back. Host plant is passion vine, of which I have plenty. This one decided to hang out on mulch.

Lovely! You're lucky to be able to grow Passion Vine year-round AND to have the Gulf Fritilary :).

And regardless of what they look like the caterpillars are harmless and don't sting.
But they can eat the vine to the ground.

Pretty! I haven't seen any around here yet. In fact, most of the butterflies aren't out and about here yet.

They are here in full force. This morning they (the GFs) were on pentas, Mystic Spires blue salvia, and milkweed.

Frit visiting clasping heliotrope... Frits are common here... Of course... those passion flowers are like 'weeds' here... I don't pull them, but everybody else seems to... sad, you don't value what you have...

The Gulf Fritillaries were out today on the red and white pentas, and even periwinkle. Not bad for the last day in October.
