Nannon’s patch
Starting a grow log to cover off what grows in my two patches. One gets a lot of attention and is very productive while the other is somewhat neglected and can only grow hardy things.
This year I’m growing lots of tomatoes

And eventually little plants made it into the ground in September. They had to be planted in and around existing almost mature brassicas. They were fine though.

The tomatoes I’ve harvested so far are Genuwine, Big Brandy, Honey Drop, Tigerella, random red cherry volunteer and Blue Berries
This is by far the largest tomato I’ve grown so far. It’s a Big Brandy.

Re: Nannon’s patch
Picked another bunch of cherry tomatoes. We have a heatwave coming through and temps have been high. We had 41°C (approx 106F) yesterday and today will get above 43°C (110F). Hopefully none of the tomatoes cook out there in it.
I checked in on my dahlias as well and they are looking happy still.

Re: Nannon’s patch
Everything looks marvelous! So healthy.
Somehow, I am surprised to see a fused blossom. I didn't think it would get cool enough there. That's one of the interesting things about an international forum where we can see what others' conditions are like.
You are off to a great start on what looks like a very productive season for you. A nice array of varieties.

Re: Nannon’s patch
Thanks There are lots of fused blooms on all the beefsteaks. I thought this was a genetic thing!
Although, until not very long ago the overnight temperature was dropping to 15°C (60F). Maybe that helped. Where I live is on the coast not far from Sydney, it doesn’t ever snow but will still get cool (well, I think it’s cold!) in Winter. Some of these plants have been in the ground since then.

Great harvest. What is that elongated little yellow? And how does it taste?

Re: Nannon’s patch
The elongated yellow cherry Roma type are a commercial variety named Honey Drop that are sold here by a big box store called Bunnings (or the Big Green Shed). Google says they are also sold commercially to farmers under the name Golden Gem. I’ve never found seed available for these but have purchased a plant each year for a few years because I really love them. They are fairly mild and sweet when completely ripe with medium firmness, not crunchy not squishy.
I haven’t tried to save seed and grow them out because I suspect they are a hybrid.

Seeds are available for Honey Drop, just can't think where of the top of my head at the moment, but I know I planted some from seed with no indication of it being a hybrid, time will tell. If you want a bit more variety, let me know, have plenty.

Re: Nannon’s patch
Thanks Whwoz. I’m trialling Barry’s Crazy Cherry as a potential replacement for it. If it’s not as nice I might take you up on that offer! I love non-red tomatoes.
I’m curious, are the honey drop seeds you have for Roma type cherries? When I google the name a round orange cherry also comes up.

Yes Nannon, I believe that they are the mini Roma types.
Quite liked BCC a couple of years back when I grew it.

Re: Nannon’s patch
More Big Brandys this week, one of them over half a kilogram.
The dwarf tomatoes are still growing away, however the moths found them. I’ve picked off a few and squished them, as well as dusted the tomatoes.
(I even attempted to feed one to a spider near by. The spider was not at all keen to have the caterpillar around, so much so that it deliberately shook it out of its web)

It's a pleasure to watch your garden producing, here in the Mid-Atlantic U.S. where temps are really starting to get cold.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Nannon’s patch
Thanks for dropping by and having a look.
Today I picked another large bowlful of cherries and another two big brandies.
One of them is here: I noticed that, despite the caterpillar destruction in the dwarf tomato bed, one of the summertime gold tomatoes has changed colour slightly. I can’t wait to try it! Hopefully soon...

I picked the Summertime Gold tomato today. It looks quite beautiful...
Until I turned it over
I also picked a few capsicums and another Big Brandy, and a gigantic spring onion
