Tomato variety report 2020- Bristol England
Thought I would share the results of my 2020 growing season:
By way of background I don't have a garden and grow in a sunny courtyard in what folks in the UK know as growbags (cuboid watertight plastic bags pre-filled with compost, ~4 feet long, 1ft wide, 6 inches deep.) I planted two plants to a growbag, mostly pruned to a single stem, although a few varieties (e.g. Galina, Stupice, Moskvich) were allowed 2-3.
The seeds (from a great organisation near me in Wales, called Real Seeds) were sowed on 1st March, planted out 15 May, and 6 Wild Boar Farms varieties were sown late on 15th April, so I didn't get much of a harvest from those varieties this time. All 20 varieties were new to me; this was my first season exploring beyond the world of F1 cherries! Most of the plants were drip irrigated and I tried to weight most of the harvest (except the cherries to which I took a relaxed attitude towards weighing, because who has time for that amongst the snacking...)
I am pleased to report I had a successful season and am now 100% tomato obsessed. I don't know how I will find the space to grow all the new varieties I would like to try in 2021, but I am very happy to have found Tomato Junction and wanted to share!
My 2020 list (in order of average weight harvested per plant)
My setup: (L:R Ildi, San Marzano, Amish Paste, "Sungold", Galina, Irish Gardeners' Delight) South facing wall:
In fruit: (L:R Orkado F1 cherry, Green Zebra, Orange Banana, Amish Paste x 2)
Amish Paste: Blue Fire:

A south facing wall is a fine thing for tomatoes!
I must say I like your system of planting in the flat bags. I bet that maximizes the solar heating of the soil, which tomatoes can't get enough of in a cooler climate. And raised off the ground, ditto, will keep them warm. Brilliant! Glad to hear of your success.

Thank you- It is a rented yard and I feel so spoiled with the south facing wall. I am sure when a time comes that I have an in-ground garden my tomatoes will never have it this good again! so I am growing tomatoes while the sun shines

Those tomatoes are loving that positioning and shelter.
The behaviour of light means you observe me as i was then, and not as I am now.
I cannot change history, so I do hope i gave you a good impression of myself
