A cross between brandywine and costoluto genovese.
The plants are RL,so when some saved seeds from last year came up PL I wasted those.
The RL ones I kept are identical to bought plants this year.
I had ripe ones already,so I would say a good july big tomato for this area.
So it is possible to save seeds from hybrid in this instance.
The different leaf types makes it easier to avoid surprises at harvest time.

There is some question as to if the tomatoes offered in the Heirloom Marriage series are truly F1's. Some say that these are really just op's that they are saying are F1's. One vendor said that they were F1 and the rest followed suit. Sometimes people just copy what others have to say and then it is believed to be true by all.

@MissS
Why is there some question about it?

@slugworth
You can save seeds (and grow them) from pretty much any F1 hybrid, but the offspring will have some differences, whether or not they're detectable.

PL is recessive. So, if you get PL plants, the RL genes are gone; their descendants should be PL every time unless they get cross-pollinated again by a regular leaf tomato or such.

If you're liking the results you're getting, by all means, save seeds and grow them again! But, call them what they are. If it's an F2 hybrid, call it Genuwine F2. If it's an F3, call it Genuwine F3. Give it a new name, eventually, and when it's stable then you can drop the F3+ or whatever. Don't call it Genuwine; don't call it Brandywine; don't call it Costoluto Genovese.

The plants I bought didn't appear for sale until june.
I would like to start my own seed for an earlier planting.
