Seed starting setup is ready for action
I got my new shelving unit yesterday and built it today to my home-office, next to my desk. This is the only piece of Ikea furniture I am permitted to bring to this household.
Ikea is only place here, which sells wire shelves like this and this is actually already third one, which I am buying, since the other two have found permanent locations as storage shelves after the seed starting season was over and plants were moved outdoors.
I built couple of new plant lights from the reflectors of old light fixtures and LED-strips. I ordered cool white and red-blue LED-strip lights from AliExpress. I have earlier used just the cool white LEDs with success, so this an experiment to see, if I get the peppers and flowers form buds earlier. In my experience tomatoes do better with fluorescent lights, so for those I will use a light fixture with two tubes.
I had to sow something today and started with peppers and flowers. I used some type of DE granules, which are sold as light weight sand for icy pavements. Tomatoes have to wait about a month, before it is time to start germinating them.
Now I can watch my plants grow, while working from the home office.

Very cool setup with the strip lights! Look forward to hearing what you think about the color arrangement. I'm still on the fence about LED's and haven't quite decided what type of LED would be best to try next.
That is a sturdy looking shelf as well... no surprise they got put to another use as soon as seedlings were done!

Great setup!
Now you'll have to find a use for this one after the seedlings are gone again, so you have to get *just one more* next year.

Nice set up. Outstanding lighting.

Peppers and some micro tomatoes are already growing under the light.
I sowed remaining tomatoes on Friday evening. Tonight I noticed something green peeking between the red moler clay granules. Miracle of life is always so joyous.
