checking out my "to grow" pepper seed for 2021 ..

I really liked Donkey Ears and saved seed in 2020, but have read sweet peppers cross readily with hot peppers - and I did grow Cajun Belle, Padron, etc. nearby

if a sweet pepper has crossed with a hot pepper will the saved seeds taste hot?

As I understand it, the hot genes are dominant to the non hot. So yes, if your sweet pepper crossed with the hot, it will be a hottie.

Peppers are the floozies of the vegetable world! You just about have to bag blooms to get pure seed unless you have 100+ yards between them and even then it's not guaranteed.

The seeds from 2020 probably won't be hot, but the fruits this year from those seeds will be hot (if it's a cross). That's my experience, anyway.
