Chilie Magic Shell.

As promised I'm making magic shell but with a kick.
But first let me inform some of you if you didn't know.
Coconut oil has a melting point just below cocoa butter by just a little.
So you can use this stuff to make a reasonable candy

What I had around the house was about 1/2 cup of Coconut oil.
I also had some Cocoa Rouge powder.
No powdered sugar so I made some in my cleaned out whirly bird pepper grinder that used to be a coffee grinder.
I heated up the oil just enough to get warm.
Added about 6 tablespoons of cocoa powder
3 tablespoons of the powdered sugar.
1 teaspoon each of red New Mexico chilie powder and Chipotle powder.
Let it stay warm but not hot in a wee kettle stirring occasionally.
I put mine in a one cup measuring cup and it made 2/3rds of a cup.
Remember it really doesn't matter how much of the powders you put in it is just to taste.
Mine isn't hardly sweet at all.
Once it is in a cup you'll continue to stir till it cools off.
This stuff will get hard in the refrigerator or definitely on top of ice cream.

I couldn't help myself and added two more heaping teaspoons of Chipotle powder for more flavor.
Then I was reminded of the movie Chocolat.

worth1 How do you store it in the fridge & if it hardens into a dense form how do you take a portion out to warm up? I never would've thought to make magic shell at home. But then, I haven't eaten it in years. Sure looks good!

I never would have thought to make it at home either till I put 2 and 2 together.
I was trying to make chocolate candy with nuts.
Right now the house is at 60f and it is a solid as a rock.
Just make small batches and put in half pint jar and let sit out.
It's oil and powder nothing to spoil.
You could also add a lower melting point oil a little at a time and thus lower the melting point.
It would be more like magic shell.
But I like it the way it is.
Later the Chipotle started to kick in more and it is pretty hot.
I'm not the only one doing this after I thought of it and looked on line.
Sure enough many recipes and ideas.
I also suspect you could add coconut oil to melted baking chocolate and get the same thing.

I also got the wild idea of getting some coconut oil and cooking down low temp frying a good amount of habanero peppers in it to make habanero oil.
Then make the chocolate with it.
I really like messing with and making chocolate candy type stuff.
One time when I was a wee thing my mom thought she would break me of eating the baking chocolate.
So she gave me a chunk of non sweetened chocolate.
To her dismay I ate it like there was no tomorrow.
A lot of the older ladies dipped snuff back then.
To be like an adult I would dip cocoa powder.
My mom thought I was dipping snuff at 5 years old.
We also learned how to make our own chocolate milk with it without warning up the milk by adding a wee bit in the powder at a time to get it to mix.
Then slowly add the rest.
That was probably pre school or a little after too.
Mom and Dad made us learn to do things on our own.
