Re: Cherokee Carbon
I almost got one of those at Riefels. Is it sort of an improved yield Cherokee purple or entirely something else?

Re: Cherokee Carbon
That's beautiful. I received seeds from someone at TV and grew it in the Fall/Spring season but my tomatoes were small and more reddish than brown. It did set fruit in really hot weather and was productive but it didn't seem right to me. I ended up buying seeds so I will try again in September.
Were most of your tomatoes that size? Also, where did you get your seeds.

I'll grow it again. kars, the parents of CC are Cherokee Purple and Carbon, both heirlooms. I got my seeds from Tomato Growers Supply. It doesn't look like all of the tomatoes will be the size of the one in the photograph, but most are medium-large.

Re: Cherokee Carbon
The Cherokee Carbon seeds I found at TGS are hybrid. Is there a variety that is OP that I missed?

I must have misread the description. I saw "Heirloom Marriage" series and assumed it was OP. But you are right...it's a hybrid.

Re: Cherokee Carbon
This is my first year to plant Cherokee Carbon, at the recommendation of the Texas Master Gardener Program Coordinator (my cousin's wife), who had a good year with it last year near Caldwell. It's been the star of my garden so far in both production and flavor, and has earned a spot on my "every year" list.
A seed not planted is guaranteed not to grow.
