Anyone grown this before? Are they any good? I got the “Dwarf Tamarillo” from Baker Creek and it’s got some flowers currently. The foliage is super strong smelling, wondering if fruits taste anything like that :?

I looked into this way back, but several sources said that it didn't do as well in lower elevations, like mine, and sometimes doesn't set fruit, or they are very small. The only reason I was even looking info it, was tomatoes not setting fruits in those hot times, so this might not be much better! I'm curious to see how this turns out for you.

Gotcha, well I’m just 150 feet or so up, so guess we shall see. I’ll post an update or two as things progress.

Don’t want to count my fruits before they hatch, but this looks promising.

Ha ha, I started some micros inside in February, and planted one of these (Dwarf Tamarillos) without fully reading the info where it says "will eventually grow into a small tree". I had a few fruit going inside, but it got too tall and I didn't like the smell, so since I miscalculated and had an open spot outside, I planted it out with the rest of my seedlings. I was hoping for an indoor ground cherry for the winter for my better half, but oh well.

Mine are a little further along then yours, these are the fruits that were green when I planted it out:

Nice! I like your selection of indoor plants, micro tomatoes and… 9’ tall tropical fruit tree :)

Here’s my “baby” pushing five feet tall.

Sure, rub it in!

PS I had it in a 3x3 pot, when I planted it out a few weeks ago the root mass was crazy, just a brick, I couldn't even loosen it up.

This is mine today:

I got tired of it and I have an extra ground cherry in a small pot I'm going to put in instead to see if I can get some before the end of the season.

Chop em!

I’m getting some fruits, gave one to my two year old. She started with, “Mmmm like!” then about fifteen seconds later said, “no like, spicy!” which I feel like is a pretty good summary of this fruit.

My other problem was it was getting huge and unruly and shading my tomato plant next to it. And I had to brush up against it tending to the other plants, and as I noted earlier in the thread, it smelled terrible.
