Hillbilly vs Hillbilly Flame
Does anyone know if these are different names for the same tomato? I looked it up in Tatiana's database, but it didn't really say.
SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.
Missed you all terribly!

Re: Hillbilly vs Hillbilly Flame
Over at Tville, Carolyn Male posted emphatically and repeatedly that there isn't any such tomato as "Hillbilly Flame," that it's just "Hillbilly." She said "Flame" was appended to the name by someone by mistake once upon a time and it stuck, leading to confusion.
You can look up her posts about it on Tville, but the gist of it was that Renee Shepherd of Shepherd Seeds named a bicolor selection "Olympic Flame," then had to change the name to "Old Flame" when the Olympic Committee got after her about it. This eventually was shortened to "Flame." Then someone stuck "Flame" on the end of the name "Hillbilly," maybe writing it "Hillbilly (Flame)," but this was just wrong and shouldn't have happened. Baker Creek seems to have sold it this way at some point. According to Carolyn, Olympic Flame/Old Flame/Flame is not the same tomato as Hillbilly, and "Hillbilly (Flame)" or "Hillbilly Flame" is just misnamed Hillbilly.
