There's a weather alert, here, for ground level ozone, 11 AM to 11 PM, Wednesday. With a lingering cold, and an uncontrollable coughing fit, once a day that lasts for a few minutes, usually ending with a big sneeze (pollen related?), the last thing that I need is an irritated throat, and maybe lungs.

I'm on the western edge of the zone, just a few miles in from that edge. Perhaps the zone will drift further east by morning. I will have to further look at the map, today and tomorrow morning. And, sometimes these maps are ludicrous, as the zones are often designated by state or county borders.

Like the weather stops at the border.

I'm also curious, and will look to see, if there are any websites that show the continuous levels of ozone, here.

Ooohhh, clicking on "show green contour" gives it a Green Bay Packer vibe.

Thanks for the link.

The wind here in Illinois has been horrible. Storms yesterday they were predicting 75 mile per hour gusts. Not enough rain in the storms to be useful to the garden, so still having to water. Iowa was hit with a devistating tornado from the storm that passed through. Some nice days with less than 30 mph winds would be great. My plants are getting beat up pretty badly.

Hi,
North Texas is in a High Risk, for severe weather.....
On May 8th, my house got pounded with golf ball size hail. It shredded all our oak trees and garden plants. So sad. I pruned everything and its all still growing. I'll just have to wait longer for things to fruit up.

Finally got hot here....non-stop sweat weather, now. I need to get my tomatoes in. My beat up early tomatoes, as expected, did nothing at all in the ground up to this point. They didn't get covered or anything. I guess I'll leave them in and add 15 slicers in 15 feet. The earlys were 2 big beef 2 cuostralee and 2 moskvich.

The only positive, here, is that nothing is planted, yet. I moved all seedlings, tomatoes are :( NLY 2 days :( LD, inside as tomorrow looks like severe thunderstorms with potential high wind and hail. sigh

Juicy, but not especially hot. Today, no blistering or wilting sun to deal with. Green house conditions with lots of diffuse light. Mostly positive for ripening fruit.

Whew, last night was a doozy! Power was off for approximately 11-12 hours. Tomato plants fell over and a limb on Nicky bent. I picked everything up, pruned and dusted because there was large poop on Delicious and a hornworm on Nicky. :x Picked a jalapeno though. 👍

May can be so variable here. Some years the heat sets in early to mid month and never lets up until fall. Some years May weather is wonderful all month. Not too hot, beautiful breezes and enough rain. We've been fortunate to have a great May. Alas,as May goes away the heat of summer is creeping in with highs in the 90's for the next four dry days.

Farewell, May! It's been so nice to have you this year . :)

Only got up to maybe 83° here today, but very humid, until much later. Started out raining, but only .24", with several more "spittings", that didn't even register. Around 4:30 pm the sun came out, and quickly dried out things, so I went out and did a few things in the garden, though there wasn't that much to do. Possibly more rain tomorrow, but Monday is the washout day, according to the weather lady. At least the temps will go down some neat week.

even by U.P. standards it lousy weather.
cool, only in the low 40s. several rainy days. wind that just won't quit.
not no gentle breeze, we have been getting 30 and 40 mph gusters. trees have
been knocked down. some areas had power outages. lights at work were flickering
several times yesterday. can't get anything done outside currently. can't get plants
out to harden off. just bah.

Warmer today, but much less humid, and almost no clouds in the sky, and a little breezy, so it was easy to work out there, as long as I stayed out of the sun!

I'd probably love the U.P. Was way too hot here the last 3-4 days. House heating up to near 80 and not cooling off until morning, rinse and repeat.

A timely (just finished planting everything but the Waltham Butternut Squarsh) 2.5"/6.35cms of rain puts us in surplus for both the month AND the year!

Dig it!

Evidently, Mexico is having a horrible heat wave.
https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7214308

Being as close to Mexico as we are, we are also getting unusual heat and especially humidity for late in May. Super high dewpoints, bad August type of levels. There’s a strong enough flow off the gulf to prevent the temperature from getting very high, but inland it’s a different story.

I've been watching the 'heat dome' horrors in the news. Hope it breaks soon, and doesn't turn tragic for more people who are still without power due to the awful storms.
There's been a steady parade of deadly floods in the news, all around the world, in the early months of the year. I can't remember ever seeing anything close to so many.
Now wildfires and heat domes are setting in as early as May? SMH.

I just missed a few pop up thunderstorms today, only by about 5 miles. So, the near perfect day finally got me out in the garden, prepping for planting.

There's a thin wall of water that stretches from the Carolinas to Canada, right now. I'll very likely get hit on Monday. The body needs a rest, anyway.

More cameras, more bandwidth....more worry for the media to push. That is how I see it.
