Has anyone had success overwintering mums inside and planting them in the spring n the ground? I have read planting in the spring gives them time to establish their roots to survive the winter outside. I've already transplanted the store bought mums into bigger pots. I hope it works. I would love to have perennial mums

I am in zone 5b

The beautiful mums sold this time of year can be overwintered. While we have never had much success apparently there are several on-line you tube videos explaining the process. Not enough green fingers for us I guess.

Yes, overwintered Lowes 99 cent mums by a sunny window in an unheated extra room. Planted outside in spring. Still doing great. Just start with healthy plants. Almost everything left in my area is dried out.
