Re: Disguising Price Increases
I did find out that you can order two kits or whatever and still pay the same in shipping.
I'm going to see how this add up.

That doesn't work and their shipping cost went up since yesterday by a couple of dollars.

Re: Disguising Price Increases
The price went down since yesterday and the shipping company got changed from ups to DHS or whatever they're called.
Over all the price went down.
The kit will here Friday.
Stratocaster style.
And I already have the stain picked out for the body.
It's s very dark beet red purpleish color.
I may have to make the stain and finish myself.
I normally do.
Rest assured it won't be a plastic one like nitrile or poly.
It'll be hand rubbed old school from back in the day before dangerous chemicals.
The kind of finish they put on Holland and Holland rifles.

Re: Disguising Price Increases
I was under the impression that the company had a distribution center here in the US.
It doesn't its in Germany.
No wonder the shipping was so expensive.

Re: Disguising Price Increases
Meanwhile, back at the grocery store... an undisguised price increase. I was in Walmart today getting groceries and was thankful Pickles picked up two 1 dozen cartons of eggs at Aldi a couple of days ago. They had them for 3.49, limit 2. She got two.
Today's Walmart's 18 ct box of eggs has suddenly gone up from 5.87 to 6.72, on a one dozen basis that's from 3.91 to 4.48 a dozen. Their one dozen cartons are now 4.53. I didn't get any. Thank you, Aldi.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/egg-indust ... -bird-flu/
More than 20 million egg-laying chickens in the U.S. died last quarter because of bird flu, data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows, marking the worst toll inflicted on America's egg supply since the outbreak began.
So we pay more in taxes to cover the farmer’s losses and more at the store for eggs. Nice.Unlike in past years, in 2024, all major production systems experienced significant losses including conventional caged, cage-free, and certified organic types," a USDA report said this month.
Taxpayers will pick up the tab for the lost birds. To incentivize farmers to quickly report and stomp out the virus, a USDA program pays producers for the eggs and poultry they cull.

The more one looks under the hood on these practices with poultry, the uglier it gets. Fat government checks being doled out left and right no strings attached, practices rife with animal cruelty, big business profiting willy nilly, the egg laying and poultry industry has it all.

I agree, it is cruel to kill with heat, but also what other practical solution is there to kill that many birds that are contaminated or sick?

Re: Disguising Price Increases
And the government payouts, with the money received in 2-3 weeks by direct deposit, are based on fair market value at the time. So the federal government basing payouts at current high market value rates for the chickens and eggs culled due to avian flu. Humm, gee, how can we encourage more avian flu in these chicken houses? Something like that could not be possibly happening in America in 2024-2025 could it? People NEVER bilk the government do they? Makes me wonder.
