There was also some serious controversy about them working with a breeder in Australia. Because at the time Australia had VERY STRICT import/export laws. And it was verboten to even ship seeds there, or to receive from there. [seeds]

You are not missing anything. I had all the Dwarf Project tomatoes when they first came out, grew them, and then gave them [my seed] all away because I simply did not like their flavor. They were terrible in my opinion and that's when I exclusively grew Dean Slater's dwarf creations.

Amazing how different two folks taste can be, maybe it is the weather or soil or something else. Who knows ..

I also had the first released varieties and was very pleased to get them. The whole project was a phenomenal achievement. Many of the shorter varieties made it possible for some folks with very limited space to grow decent size tomatoes with tasty fruit in small places. I have pretty much all of them now and really would be "missing something" if they were not there.

It takes all sorts, so enjoy the tomatoes you like best......

I had a couple from Suze that lived 12 miles from me.
Nothing special but her soil didn't produce the same flavor as my tomatoes.
Hers were a little washed out in flavor compared to mine.
I really miss Suze she was a good friend and person and we had many conversations at her place and going to the nursery together.
No idea where she went.

Who knows what seed I have. I probably have some seed from Suzie from 10+ years ago... (?) I will have to look...

I miss reading and finding so much history and information, not just on tomatoes, but many things on growing vegetables and diseases or pests. It was a great source and most posters seemed nice. Since it is gone, it's a loss. Garden Web was good, way back, but even though not closed down, Houzz is unweildy to me.

For information on the original Dwarf Project, perhaps do a search for Craig LeHoullier, to see if he has anything posted online. If not, perhaps try to contact him for such info.

The Dwarf Project was a lot of interesting fun. I had a part in ten or twelve of the varieties. Many were in the early stages of the crosses, some later on and a few in the final stages. It was a great learning experience and I am glad I was able to assist. Several were tasty, several not so much. For those who were disenchanted with Tomatoville, not everyone fits in everywhere. I didn’t care for a few of the gardening sites. No big deal. I started with what is now Houze, moved on to the Ville and a few others along the way. I have to admit/say Tomatoville really added to my personal knowledge of growing tomatoes and gardening in general. The places I still visit I do because I want to.

My biggest problem was a couple of trolls that stuck to me like leaches.
I was exasperated and no moderator would help.
Carolyn was in the outs at the time and no blame on this beautiful person.
It really mentally messed me up with nowhere to go.
