I got maybe 1/4" of rain overnight, with more coming later on. Maybe...

Re: How's your weather?
Hot and dry, burn bans everywhere. There’s a possibility of a strong storm Thursday night, which would bring some welcome rain. I could feel the humidity as I worked in the garden today. Summers here!
Come gather 'round people / Wherever you roam / And admit that the waters
Around you have grown / And accept it that soon / You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin'/ And you better start swimmin' / Or you'll sink like a stone

Just noticed on the local weather channel that is 101 degrees right now. I worked some outside this afternoon - I knew it was hot but not THAT hot.

Re: How's your weather?
Hot and dry, cooler than wildcat, but still too hot for May at 96F and almost no breeze. My poor little squash plants just keeled over, bu the rosemary is good. Watered everyone and the squash is picking up again.
Got the door open, cooling the house a bit bfore the heat comes back mid morning. Still not turning the air on as yet, sure am not looking forward to electric bills going up. I'll put together a floor fan in the morning, moving air feels better, along with the ceiling fans. Trying to hold out for June before the air goes on, hoping to anyways.

It finally rained hard here, overnight, and is still drizzling at 11 am. Only 61° at that time, and only 70° forecast for the high. So far, 1.15", though it hasn't stopped yet.

Re: How's your weather?
A Heat ridge is now covering Texas. The heat ridge moved out of Mexico when that system to the East that was keeping things cool finally moved up and away.
Dallas is 101°, but the dewpoint is around 50° so it only feels like 98° or so.
Houston is 91°, but it feels like 97°
We are 85°, but the feels like is 92°.
92° actual or feels like is still pleasant enough for me. Once either number starts crawling above 100° and it becomes less pleasant.
This is the time of year it feels terribly cold going into any air conditioned building. I can’t stand the over refrigeration of structures.

Re: How's your weather?
Well, today the official number was 98F but here at the house, in a slightly shaded area, it hit 100F. Too much pavement around is what I suspect drives it higher here at the house. Dry is the prediction for the next 5 days and overcast is high or hazy.
I would surely enjoy a cool front right now, even a little one!!

Re: How's your weather?
Juicy, not quite Saigon or Dhaka juicy, but getting close. Too juicy for tomatoes to set fruit. Maybe fruit setting for tomatoes is over for spring of 2025 and maybe a window will open later in May or June.
The western and southern Gulf of Mexico has been whipped by days of persistent SE winds and all that wind and sun whipped evaporated moisture is mingling with Caribbean moisture and getting shunted north and west right over us. The ebb and flow of the dry line over the western half of Texas is compressing the Gulf moisture even more.
Tampico and Veracruz are at Hanoi and Dhaka like dewpoints. Probably means we will get there very soon.
The upside is that air that moist is difficult to heat up. We won’t make it to 90° today.

Re: How's your weather?
It only totalled 1.19" yesterday, so the misting for almost the entire day only increased the rainfall by .04", and another .03" after midnight. And we're still in a cloud out there, with an almost constant mist. Chances of "possible" TSs every day until Sunday, and getting hotter each day, up to 85° Saturday, before starting to get cooler, and lower humidity.

Hit 105 here yesterday. Not looking good for the garden with the 10 forecast in the upper 90's.

Re: How's your weather?
Beautiful here, getting up to around 20C/68F today, as for the last week. Supposed to be a change coming through, down to a max of 13C/55F tomorrow with only 5mm/0.2 inch of rain. Odd shower of rain forecast for each day for the next week with temps warming up to around 17C/63F.
Here's hoping that we get enough rain to get the grass growing before the cold weather sets in. Hay is scarce and expensive. Have heard some is being trucked across from Western Australia

@worth1 nice, but I hope you have some kind of appliance for the upcoming season, so you can retreat to cool off when you need to. Life saving thing, I'm told. Don't die of heat, please.

Re: How's your weather?
I got it covered I'll go buy a room ac if I have to
I spent the entirety of my life without AC.
I work without AC.
The guy with me much younger was about to croak and had to run off and get Gatorade but I kept on trucking.
I couldn't care less about that money sucking central air and heat.
I spent 10 years in Angleton Texas with only a window unit and a little gas heater.
The upcoming season is here.
I leave the garage door open at night.
It cools off and in the morning I close it.
I come home and it's cool so I keep it closed until I go to bed and I open it.
I get up early and with the big fan I suck in cool air and when I leave I close the windows and doors.
Pull work boots off bare feet on cool floor shirt off pants off.
Underwear.
Wet cloth on neck if need be.
Seems like a hassle but it's better than a 300 to 400 dollar electric bill.
I ain't rich.
And I'm actually enjoying it.

Re: How's your weather?
What they used to call whole house fans were a nice way to suck out hot air from the house, some could also reverse and draw in he cooler air too.
Some cooler today, nice for a change. 77F right now, door open and a slight breeze around. Was a little over heated the last couple days and slept too hard for awhile last night, must have twisted or something in my sleep as my right lower shoulder blade gave me some pain this morning. Eased up a little, but if I move wrong, wow.
Since I have a bit more patience when it isnt freaking hot, been slowly stretching that area until it makes me catch my breath. Best way I know to ease up a muscle thing.
Going to slowly climb back into the mid 90f s here, pretty normal for the time of year here.

Re: How's your weather?
Luckily I have a lot of shade in my yard.
You can't see my roof on google earth.
One thing about humidity.
It might take longer to get hot but it also takes longer to cool off.
I miss my beloved West Texas desert climate.

Re: How's your weather?
Around 11:30 am the rain had started, with some distant thunder, but by about 12:10 pm, the rain was only up to .10". But around 12:15, the rain intensity increased greatly, with almost constant thunder, and nearby lightning, and in less than 20 minutes the rainfall total had increased to 1.2"! It's already almost stopped, but still raining, and a chance all day. Temperature staying around 70°, but humidity staying very high, with dewpoint at 67°. Fortunately, tomorrow is not supposed to be as bad now (except for getting hotter); originally, it was supposed to be the worst of the two days.

Humidity is supposed to drop next week, probably Tuesday, even all the way to the coast.
