For me, Estler's Mortgage Lifter & Pink Ponderosa (Ponderosa Pink?) grew like crazy. You wouldn't really know it to see them now that they are planted. 2/3 of each are underground!

From the disaster crop of 2017, I managed to salvage a few Uluru Ochre seeds. Most looked like crap and only 10% (1/10) germinated. But that one plant is "shoosting up into the sky". Encouraging!

Of the peppers, 90% of the Shattahs (2016 gift) came out swinging and begging for nitrogen. (One looks more like a Scotch Bonnet; I'm looking forward to finding out what it really is.)

The 100% non-MoA Scotch Bonnets (2016 mine) are a mixed bag. Some are SuperPlants, some are Jimmy Olsens.

And five crops didn't germinate at all. (Four gifts and one mine from 2015.)
Stupidity got us into this mess. Why can't it get us out?

DMF That's pretty cool about your Ulure Ochre plant.

My most vigorous pre-transplant pepper this year is Pepperoncini Greek Golden (from the same seeds that I don't think sprouted last year). I'm pretty surprised, but pleased.

My most vigorous overseeded germinator this year (a tomato) is my Jim Dandy cross (which I liked to think of as Butterscotch Bush the last generation I grew it; not sure if that'll stick, yet; before, the plant was the shape of a giant tumbleweed, I think it was multiflora, or almost, and some fruits tasted a lot like butterscotch ice cream syrup; it was a prolific small yellow nippled cherry that grew vigorously in compacted soil). While the pre-transplant seedlings aren't *growing* as quickly as some, it sure has a lot of plants that sprouted. Usually only a certain number of tomatoes (granted a high number) will sprout in a cell at a time (and the others will wait for plants to be thinned or to die before sprouting), but this one is packed. The last time I tried to grow these same seeds (a few years ago) not one sprouted, though! Kind of odd, but awesome that they're sprouting so numerously now. Maybe it's because I froze them (dry) first, this time, or maybe the greenhouse temperatures were better for it this year than before. Or maybe they needed to be aged, heh, heh.

So far my most vigorous plants are Rose De Berne and Campari F2. lots of flowers on all my plants, but the Campari has the most tomatoes so far. They're about marble size today. Looks like Campari will beat Stupice this year, which is flowering but no fruit growing yet. Last year my Stupice was first to fruit and I had ripe tomatoes from it in mid-June.

I was a little worried about the Sugary Hybrid F2 that I'm growing. The first flowers didn't polinate so I thought the they were sterile. I was considering pulling them but today I noticed 3 little tomatoes on 1 of the plants so that eases my mind a bit. My second Sugary F2 still hasn't produced a tomato yet; lots of flowers, though.

Polaris and KARMA Miracle for the PLs and Rose de Berne and Brutus for the RLs, at least as seedlings. I just started planting out a few days ago, and I haven't looked at how they are all competing in the garden yet. All my plants have been hardened off for a few weeks now, so even the small ones are doing well in the heat.

The two that are ahead of the crowd are Bloody Butcher and Black Krim. The baby runt is Anna Russian.

Caspian Pink is at the top of the pack with Estler's Mortgage Lifter and Winsall tied for second.

Via trade I had acquired seed for Ambrosia Gold.....well all the plants were PL, which is not correct. Anyway, my NOT Ambrosia Gold seedling is definitely the most vigorous, I'm excited to see what it brings. FWIW, I'm also growing Galina's Yellow, which is also quite vigorous (and yes I'm positive I didn't mix up seeds when planting).

Piennolo del Vesuvio is monstrous and Lavender Lake has started sending off suckers and split stems. I need to transplant tomorrow.

For me the champs are Elgin Pink, German Queen, Black Bear and Marsha's Starfighter Beefsteak, Thanks again to Marsha for the seeds. It's a beautiful plant with faint purple on the stem and leaves.Image[/img]

Out of the 40 plus varieties I started this year, Cheruban from Ginger2778 was definitely the stoutest and tallest seedling. No slouching or slumping like some of the whispy-leaved hearts. Just a straight shot skyward. It will be interesting to see how it grows now that it is in the ground.

Looks like my Chris Ukrainian tomato is a cross again, this year. It set fruit, and it's striped like Green Zebra's, again. Alas. :) It's vigorous and fruiting well, so far, however.
