Hello from Central Texas

Hi folks. I'm Travis, from Texas.

Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money, and nothing particular to interest me in my home town (Leander, TX), I thought I would go about a little and see the world. It took most of 20 years to return. In due course I acquired two master’s degrees, a family, two dogs, and a surprisingly satisfying career in accounting. Balance sheets were created, reconciled, consolidated, and dissolved. Riots were started. Hobbies and nebulae flamed to life and died. I had to add extra pages to my passport, and moved 14 times. Eventually, my garage became overrun with tools, and my house by obscure plants. Now settled, I find enjoyment in quiet times with good company, in making things, in spending time outside, and in spreadsheets that foot and cross-foot. I’m very happy to be here exploring the wonderful tomato world with you all.

I currently have 32 plants in raised beds and large planters. I think there are 7 varieties this year (had a bit of a labeling fiasco from a windstorm--long story), mostly hybrids but a few heirlooms. I grew most from seed for the second year in a row. I'm a serial hobbyist but have always enjoyed gardening. It's one of the few hobbies that sticks (knifemaking and furniture building are others). Despite the fact that I've grown them for years, I decided just recently to turn my considerable focus to really learning how to better grow tomatoes. I started this deep dive well after planting this year, but have learned a lot that will still improve my crop. Looking forward to hanging around these parts!

I actually have a Round Rock address, but CP is the closest city limit, and I work and shop there mostly. I claim Leander as my hometown because that's where I went to school and church and stuff, even though I grew up with the same RR/CP address/location issues.
