2021 Grow list

#1

I have finally finished my grow list for next year, at least for now, and have ordered seeds today for the varieties that I do not already have.

It is returning favorites:
Big Beef
Cherokee Purple
Sun Orange
Bella Rosa

And new for this year:
Sweet Million
Juane Flamme
Cherokee Carbon
Stump Of The World
GGWT (I have not found seeds for this one.)

We will start enough for our use and several extras to give away. We usually start 12 of each and plant six, although this year we will probably start more as we are starting plants for a few friends.

Comments or suggestions are welcome.

You'll like Cherokee Carbon. 2019 it was my best producer. Not as good in 2020, but great toms anyway. I think you'll find the quality to be nearly identical to CP, but with greater yield. It permanently displaced CP on my lineup.
A seed not planted is guaranteed not to grow.

It's JAUNE Flamme (French, not Mexican) and I found it very tart.

Juan Flamme really needs to be a hot pepper variety. Just sayin'.

I know Sunsugar F1 is coming back to my garden next year. Bought a plant from Home Depot last summer and really enjoyed them, so I bought some seeds from Tomato Growers Supply.

You are going to love Sweet Million. I've grew SM for sometime now. SM is a claimed 72 day tomatoes. But you will be picking from it before any of those SO CALLED ultra early varieties. Even though some of them boast a 50 day maturity date. Sweet Million is heat tolerant, and pretty stable for a hybrid. Grow 3 plants beside each other, and collect seeds from the middle plant. F-2 and F-3 Sweet Million are both great. PS-- You can collect seeds from Big Beef also, its pretty stable. You got a good list on your repeating varieties.

I'm working on the throw list, being a few thousand varieties.

So far, the only new one that intrigues me for the grow list is Brandywine Orange. Then there's the teasers that say "really good tasting"...(wait for it)..."for a very early tomato". Many of us know what that means.

I decided to cram my garden this year. I want to expand my taste pallet a bit so i have a better gauge on what constitutes a Sweet, Tart etc tomato. This year will also allow me to renew some old seeds before it's too late and build up a stock for others.

The list includes:
MissScarlettInTheKitchenWithTheKnife x2
Sungold Select II x2
Stump of the World x2
Damskie Palchiki x2
Pomodoro Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme x2
Kellogg's Breakfast x2

Serendipity
Pruden's Purple
Dr. Lyle
Porterhouse
Cherokee Purple
Olive Hill
Carbon
Italian Heirloom
Black Cherry
Isis Candy
Aunt Ginny's Purple
42 Day

I finally got my list together and will be growing one of each of the following. CC indicates these seeds came from Carolyn's seeds that Farmer Shawn distributed last year. I didn't have room to do them all last year so will try the remainder this year. I've never grown a heart shaped tomato before so this should be interesting. Hopefully the eastern European varieties will be OK here in Georgia!

Tomato, Bella Rosa
Tomato, Creole Original
Tomato, Early Annie
Tomato, Early Girl Bush
Tomato, “Fake Annie” (Grew 2 Early Annie last year and one was PL, not RL. Saved the seeds. Fruit similar but might taste better than Early Annie)
Tomato, German Johnson (CC)
Tomato, Homestead
Tomato, Honigsüsser Erlöser, orange heart, CC
Tomato, Inzhir Rosovyi , ribbed pink pear shape, CC
Tomato, KBX
Tomato, King Kong (CC)
Tomato, Koroleva Rynka 19) RL indet “Market Queen” from Siberia, CC
Tomato, Marianna's Peace
Tomato, Mom's Paste
Tomato, Purple Russian (CC)
Tomato, Red Siberian
Tomato, Rio Grande
Tomato, Rosella Cherry
Tomato, SOTW
Tomato, Super Sioux
Tomato, Süsse Friesin pale red, egg-shaped cherry, CC
Tomato, Vladyka Pink heart from Siberia, CC

That looks like a great list. The only one that I think that you might have a problem with is Brandywine Sudduth. That plant is well known not to set fruit in the heat. It sure is a good flavored one though.
