It's cool out there today - only getting to 71°, compared to 94° yesterday. I'll definitely do more out there today!

I may be getting more on the second round, after only .05" when the first front came through (that was supposed to have the most). Still little rain, even though I keep hearing thunder, and keep seeing almost constant flashes of heat lighting. Now I'm starting to hear it louder, so maybe it is closer, but I'm not holding my breath.

As I typed that, a VERY bright bolt of lightning, and some very loud thunder occurred simultaneously, along with lights flickering, so that was definitely close!

UPDATE: I just checked the meter and I am up to .65" now! It is still coming down fairly hard, with frequent lighting. I think that's as much as I've gotten for the entire month of May, until now.

It got cool out there as the day went on - 54° now, and getting cooler, and started raining about 2:30 pm, and up to .78", so far, with heavier rain coming. Supposed to stay in the 50s the next two days. 78° is avg. for this time of year.

Sunshine and temperatures in the high 50's here for recent days - and windy, gusting over 70 kph day after day. It is a blessing though because it keeps the blackflies off you, somewhat. We never have steady wind. There's always a little lull in between gusts, and that is when they pitch on you. Forecast for a week of warmer than normal temperatures ahead - high 60's. Hoping to finish my bed prep today or at least tomorrow, and ready to plant everything before the next showers.

three days in a row with frost on the ground. better weather coming up.
i hope it sticks around for awhile. i need to get plants in ground. the rain
has eased up. everything was pretty wet here, couldn't do much of anything
outside the past week. grass has really shot up in height, super charged on
free ranged chickens pooping all over.

It only got down to 53° here overnight (I see a lot of places that got down in the 40s, and of course, those areas that had freeze warnings!), and only supposed to get to 55° today and tomorrow - lower than originally forecast, but we'll find out. And it rained just over an inch, so far today - 1.02", adding to .72" yesterday, and the .82" Wednesday, so we finally got rain! Only .66" in all of May, until this week, and more to come.

I hope none of you in those cold areas have any problems with your plants!

I would never become a meteorologist on this coast! Another forecast beautiful day was gone this morning in unforecast rain. Not enough rain to do any good, mind you, just enough to promote molds and mildew etc. Gotta go spray the rusting garlic with sulphur again!
Some roses and violas are showing PM starting up on their leaves already. Far too early in the season.

Rather white here this morning, -3.4C (26F) at 7:30, with a feels like of -5.8C (21F), should get up to 15C (59F).

Went from drought to monsoon conditions and cold.
I had to bring indoors some containers that were waterlogged.

According to my rain guage 3.62 inches of rain in the last three days, and cold, highs 48-52 degrees. Got my tomatoes in a few days ago, but they aren't going to do much until this passes and temps warm up again.

I wondered why so many people were dressed like it was winter again! Even when it dropped down to 60°, half the people were dressed for winter; I was just enjoying it, after those 90+ days. Then, it got too cool!

It's not quite out of the 50s yet, but it's supposed to get into the 70s later today, breaking this spell of cold weather. I have my shorts on again, though it's really too wet out there to do much, at least in some of the area. At least the wind is minimal, so maybe I can get those covers on my peppers - that area is not soft.

The rain ended at .47" yesterday, so it was just over 3", added to the 2.56" I got the few days before. Now, I hope that we don't get into that excessive rain period, like we had last June and much of July.

I never realized that there were freezing temps in Australia Whwoz until you told us about it! I hope they are rare.

Our May was so dry, it was actually tied for 4th place with 1962, over 80 years of record keeping. Talk about balancing out the record rainfall in April.
I'm expecting record heat in June... we're on a roll.

Day wound up getting to 55F, much better than the 40F I thought we would have been lucky to get to early in the day.

Bower a lot of the southern half of Oz can drop below zero overnight. From memory, the Frost zone runs up the east coast as far as Coffs Harbour or Byron Bay before running up the main range into Queensland. Southerly blasts, similar to your polar vortexes, can dump snow a long way into Queensland. The northern NSW tablelands can get down to -12C, 12F and yes we do have snowfields in winter. The Stirling range in Western Australia can also get the occasional dump of snow.

After a six day hot streak, it's been very pleasant the past two days with highs in upper 70's-low 80's and a northerly breeze. Rain here has been lacking though. About 1.5" at the very beginning of the month and a splash 'n dash a few days ago. There have been showers elsewhere around here but not right here for the past 15 days.

When I was a kid, may was my favorite month for weather. It was 75 to 80 degrees and sunshine almost every day. Last month, I think there was one warm and sunny day. My greenhouse and high tunnel have been sitting unused for years, and this is why. Spring weather just doesn't cooperate any more.
