Have you tried Shishito peppers? I prefer them to Padron since the plant is smaller and they seem to be more productive in our climate.

[mention]rossomendblot[/mention] I tried to grow some this year but failed miserably apart from my menorcan red pepper, some apachi chillie, cayenne and the padron. Next year i shall try again and keep many of them in the greenhouse as this years weather just kept coming around and around blasting the garden with rain, wind, hail - each time I had to try and salvage or replant.

I've only tried to grow peppers outdoors here once and even though it wasn't a complete disaster, I wouldn't bother again. Like you say, everything outside gets battered a couple of times each summer and peppers really don't appreciate that. The only pepper that seems to do fine outdoors here is a rocoto. Someone I watch on Youtube grows sweet peppers very successfully outside under a low tunnel so I may give that a try, but for now they all stay in the greenhouse safe and sound.

[mention]Amateurinawe[/mention] Those padron peppers look beautiful. How much capsaicin heat do they tend to have?

I grew shishito peppers this year for the first time and they were very prolific, but a little disappointing on the heat. Seems like 1/100 might have had a bit of capsaicin heat, not the 1/10 that gets talked about.

I wonder if you have seen Right on Red sweet pepper there in the UK? It’s a fast to maturity variety and I use them like I would a sweet bell pepper, but they are faster to produce than the typical bell. Here’s a link to the description.

The outside beds seem to be having a bit of a come back from the early blight, the greenhouse plants are all good with some nice fruit forming.

The F2's are now beginning to flower so hoping there is time left in the year for at least one truss of fruit.

[mention]karstopography[/mention] mostly they have negligable heat. It's a bit of Russian roulette as there will be one in x that will be hot. Think of it as a dinner party parlour game

The simplicity of cooking with Olive oil and salt makes these so yummy. Yeah the stalk and gimp the whole pepper in one mouthful along with lots of other small dishes. [mention]Nico[/mention] will be the expert on this type of eating, but I love tapas.

So remember I had little success with germination of peppers, so I moved them outside ready to reuse the compost and took out the labels. Then mother nature decided to flick the germinate switch.

Well here they are, and I haven't a clue what they are...any ideas ?
