De-tasseling Corn
Anyone here have any information on the best way to go about de-tasseling corn. Have some popcorn that I am trying to grow for baby corn and don't need pollenation to occur. Also don't want to get the pollen mixed in with the sweetcorn I am growing.
Need to know when and how best to do this if anyone can help.
Thanks

It's been many years, but I remember pulling up on the tassels and they pop out. And, as Worth said, as soon as they show.

Re: De-tasseling Corn
De-tasseling is progressing well, advice above about pulling out the tassel is good, they pop out easily once they are up enough to grab onto. Cons are showing, cannot be too far from sending out silks. One tiller got confused with weather I think, looks like it started to tassel before throwing out silks, so first cob of baby corn picked.

Re: De-tasseling Corn
I once had tassels show up 30 days before silks. Pollen can be frozen for later use.
