post reply linking to earlier post

ok, i don't why, but for some reason when i try to post a new reply on a thread that i have already posted on,
instead of a new box opening, the earlier post pops up, and i have to add on to the earlier post. i don't want to do that.
most recent example is on the questions and answers thread on the MMMM swap.
someone has a question about uncle steve italian plum.

how can i post a reply without having to add on to the earlier response.
this happens on some threads, but not all of them.

clueless,

Using the "Reply with quote" bar, in the upper right corner of the post, appears to be what you're doing. The Post Reply bar below and to the left of the Submit bar, is where you want to go.

As for me, when I want to post, sometimes a partial reply of mine shows up weeks after posting it.

I've had similar issues but in PM's, where some old post turned up in the message box.
One thing you can do (at least, it worked for me once) is to just delete the text you don't want to add onto, and start afresh.

I also found there is a cache of "cookies" somewhere in your personal control panel, that likes to be cleared periodically. If you find the cookies cache and empty it, these problems might stop. Mine did.

Its auto save draft when you're in full editor and review.

Yes, this usually only happens when you start a reply and don't finish it using the full editor. The option to "save draft" is there so you don't lose anything when you're making a long post.

You can also go down to the bottom right navigation bar and "Delete Cookies", that might clear out your old posts that weren't sent.

If it's not a cache of fresh baked chocolate chip ones, I'll never find them.

i tried delete cookies, didn't eat any, that didn't work.
this is happening when i click on post reply, down on the bottom next to the topic tools.
i ended up just deleting everything from the earlier post, and posted my reply.

It happens to me too, sometimes when I'm making a new post, sometimes when replying and sometimes when composing a new PM. No rhyme or reason and it happens intermittently. Just highlight and delete the old unwanted text and enter your new stuff.

Highlight and delete? What's that? I just hold down the backspace key.

There was another thing that used to happen, I couldn't post a message unless I clicked on the "Full Editor & Preview" button. It just wouldn't let me send a quick reply. That hasn't happened for awhile though. But if you ever have a problem sending a quick reply, I suggest try the full editor button.
