Captain Lucky is not GWR @Shortcut Slim , I believe it is best described as a bi-color blunt heart, but not 100% sure t the moment. It is one of the parents of @KarenO Midnight Sun, Taiga, Tundra.

For an alternative GWR, Grubs Mystery Green is a good one.

Somewhere along the line I must have misunderstood what I was reading,so thanks for helping me get back on track @ Whwoz I have heard about the
Grubs,so I'll have a look for those.

I planted ARGG last season, but got nothing for my efforts, but then again I had a hard time keeping up with the tomato onslaught, and the ARGG got run over by it's more aggressive neighbors. :)

I finalized my growlist (by planting my seeds). See the opening post of this thread for my updated growlist. It mentions the sources for the seeds I planted, too.

I added about ten new kinds of tomatoes to the list.

I sure planted a lot of Amana Orange! 25 plants (all of them overseeded; one plant is from a different source than the rest)! I wanted to plant a lot, but I wasn't expecting quite that many! :) I guess I'll be trying that French dwarfing method and my own variations on it, on several of them. I hope my neighbor likes orange tomatoes.

I planted 6 each of Snacker-B, the Medovaya Kaplya cross F2, and Orange Banana.

Anyway, I wanted a lot of Amana Orange so I could do selective breeding by plant (instead of just by fruit), and help ensure the positive qualities improve.

Now that I think about it, I probably could have done with just one Orange Banana, considering the plethora of Amana Orange.

I wanted a lot of Snacker-B and the Medovaya Kaplya cross F2 because they're breeding projects, and I need to do some selective stabilization. Plus, they taste good, and I like them. I'm curious how many different flavors they'll get.

All planted today. This year only 2 cups, 6 seeds of each, except Uk Heart (9 seeds), so I don't have 100+ plants once again, lol. I will undoubtedly still have way more than I could possibly use.

Ukranian Heart
Kelloggs Breakfast
Black Cherry
Box Car Willie
Ananas Noir
Girl Girl's Weird Thing
Estler's Mortgage Lifter (seed I saved from a grow out of Edy's 2011 seed. If they germinate well I will return some to her if she would like or share)
Stump of the World
Brandywine Sudduth
Azoychka
Sophie's Choice
Cherokee Purple Heart
Gallego (from Carolyn)

I'll have to narrow this down to around 24 indeterminates and 16 determinate/dwarves, but here is what I'm starting so far this year. I tend to prefer blacks and greens, but I grow plants for friends and family and a few specifically asked for more "normal red tomatoes" this year. Hopefully, they'll like one of the new varieties I'm trying.

Amish Paste
Arkansas Traveler
Atkinson*
Black Krim
Black Prince
Cherokee Green
Dester*
Estiva F1*
Evil Olive*
Granadero F1
Illini Star*
Jaune Flamme
Juliet F1
Lemon Ice
Paul Robeson
Pink Fang*
Riesentraube
Rosella Purple
San Marzano II
Tidy Treats F1
White Tomesol*

I also have orders in for:
Bayou Moon*
Benevento F1*
Fat Frog*
Lucky Bee F1*
Maglia Rosa*
Raspberry Mochi*
but these may have to wait until next year.

*new to me

Looks like I haven't grown NAR since 2017 & truthfully I don't have any notes on it. The Paul Robeson is a must grow every year for us. Those copper colored fruits are a favorite of mine. You have an awesome grow list with many of my favorites.

With many DTMs in the 80 to 90 range, how old are your transplants (from the sowing date) when you plant them? Other than hardening off, I'll assume your plants are grown indoors under lights. Do you ever notice if the first bloom often does not set?

Looks like for at least the last 2-3 years the plants are about 4-5 weeks old from the time I started the seeds till they are actually planted in the garden. Yes, they are under fluorescent lights in our basement until they get so big I move them outside into a cold frame. Can't say I've noticed no fruit set on the 1st blooms at least on a consistent basis.

4 to 5 weeks was what I was figuring, as your DTM's are about a week or more later than most of what I've read. Typical transplants, if I can trust the info, is at 6 to 8 weeks (indoor growing). From sowing to first harvest, it looks like your plants are on time.

@catgrows a warm welcome to the Junction! That's a great list.

I think that you will find that many of the Oxhearts will work out great for sauces and canning. They have few seeds and many of them but not all have little juice with much more flavor than most of the paste type of tomatoes. Quite a few people I know have stopped growing paste tomatoes altogether in favor of the oxhearts.

Save some seeds of these varieties that you are growing so that you can participate in next years MMMM (Mostly Mystery Mater Mailing) Swap.

Welcome to the Junction @catgrows, you may well find the Costuloto genovese to be as good a sauce/paste type as any of the traditionally shaped long thin pastes, without the BER problems that some of them can have
