What’s the deal with the giant face meta googles anyway? There’s an ad with someone standing next to the beautiful ocean with those ridiculous googles on, that’s all I need to see to understand I want zero part of the Metaverse. Mark Zuckerberg is a strange duck, I don’t think many would disagree. The actual world and actual universe hold plenty of delights on their own that I don’t need to strap on those goofy googles.

I heard that there was something like 61 billion dollars worth of merchandise stolen out of stores in 2019.
Home depot is considering locking even more stuff up.
It's gotten so bad they can't just simply go up on the price to cover the losses.

Boot barn is the local shoplifting hotspot it seems. Yes, Home depot also. There a series of security videos with shoplifters walking out with new boots on that they didn’t purchase. One of the people was a young man my daughter went to high school with. He has a good job to boot, but now there’s a shoplifting warrant out for him. Makes little sense, maybe there is some thrill seeking going on.

Some of it's organized crime.
Sort of like smurfing where they send a bunch of people out to buy cold medicine to make meth.
Most of this is done in soft on crime areas like Austin.
Montgomery County will haul you off to jail.

I don’t know how @worth1 it has been since you’ve been back in this area, but a large employer of the area that you are very familiar with has a big center right in town now, the administration building and some of the research was moved from where it was to now not far from LJ city hall. The buildings are not gated and the parking lots are not gated. There’s maybe key card access to the buildings.

Anyhow, catalytic converters have been chopped off and stolen while people have been at work at that center during the daylight hours. The same is true in the nearby commercial centers. One guy went into grab a cup of coffee and a muffin and came out 15 minutes later to no catalytic converter.

The other thing is that there is evidently a homeless camp in the woods next to the mid rise large employer you know buildings. The homeless have figured out a way into the buildings at night and have trashed the bathrooms and gotten into food stores. There’s hundreds if not a thousand or more well compensated researchers, administrators and support in those buildings and this major company hasn’t yet figured out how to secure them. Kind of pitiful if you ask me.

what is pitiful, is the number of people who think it is ok or fun, to just go into a business,
and trash it, steal everything they can get their hands on. this is not a mindset that i can grasp.
we live life on the straight, and narrow here, and expect others to do the same.
there are some real whackadoddles out there.

Yesterday I got sent to Flex to safe out a system so they could redo the ceiling.
I met the kindest gentleman from India there that was in charge of the project.
He's been in Texas for 3 months and is from New York city where he ran projects for the New York transit system for 6 years.

I just wanted to state that not all people from India want to rob you of your money.
As a matter of fact most of the people hate these scam artists that make the whole country look bad.
From personal experience once you've made a friend from India you've made a friend for life.
Once in a great while I run across one man I've known for over 20 years now.
We may see each other in the grocery store and give each a greeting and hug.
The rest of the onlookers are flabbergasted at the sight of two completely different people acting towards each other in such a manner.

Its personalized license plate? TY WEBB; didn't get the chance welcome him to this nape of the neck or to thank him very little...

Just got informed yesterday my neighbor lady is now in really poor condition.
Hospice has come in and her hear is failing which means everything else is failing.

She passed away last night between 12:00 and 1:00 AM.
She was in constant pain from one thing or another.
She always has the TV on volume or not.
She told her son she didn't feel any pain at all.
He went in to check on her and the TV was off and she apparently died in her sleep.
We were friends for almost 20 years.
I'm not a selfish person I'm going to miss her as well.
But it was her time to go.
She told me awhile back life wasn't worth living in her condition.
I agree.

She told me once that I was the first man she ever saw that could make a bed properly.
I also had my KitchenAid stand mixer delivered to her house while I was away in Alaska.
We both knew how to get in each other's house as well.
Took her to the emergency room once.
One time she had let my old dog Boo Boo out and she couldn't get back up on the porch.
Old Boo Boo pulled her back up the steps to get in the house.
Boo Boo was a boxer pit mix and as sweet as could be.
He loved this lady and we would always go over and visit.
