Speedy Seed Order Record!
I like to get seed orders in before New Years Eve. It's kind of a tradition and avoids the later rush. This year I'm ordering from just three companies and yesterday I placed the orders.
One of the companies, Willhite Seed set a new speed record. Right after I placed my order I got the usual e-mail confirmation at 9:20. At 9:29 I got another saying the order was being processed. Then at 9:49 another e-mail said my order has been shipped! WOW! I guess they didn't have much to do. Yet. LOL!
This morning I had an e-mail from Baker Creek saying the order I gave them has shipped too. Their lull before the storm, I guess. That leaves Southern Exposure. Now let's see how the Post Office works post-Christmas and if the black hole that is the USPS Atlanta Distribution Center swallows up any of the packets.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
I got my email notification that my BC order was shipped about 1½ hrs after I ordered it, at about 10:30 pm. I was wondering how they had shipped it at that time, but I realized, they could have dropped a batch off at a the main processing center - I don't remember how often they emptied the large drop off boxes out front the rest of the year, but it was hourly, during the holiday season. And even in the non-holiday, they still emptied it frequently - the businesses around the area knew when the last time was they could get things out.
I think the order got here in 4 days, and an order I made from Chauly's Favorite also got here incredibly fast, which surprised me (even though it is just over the river, in PA), given how many are giving their experiences with some orders taking forever.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
I've placed most of my orders except Southern Exposure, they're still out of some of thing things I want to order.
I ordered from Pine Tree last week and it was delivered yesterday. I'm across the country and thought it was pretty fast
shipping.
I try to beat the rush as well since I have to plant my Spring garden a lot earlier than most due to my hot climate.
I'm planting peppers today and tomatoes this coming week.

I ordered some seeds from Victory Seed Co. on Jan. 3rd and received them on Jan 9th. I'd say they did pretty good !

Now I've run into one of the slowest. Baker Creek shipped on Dec 29, it's still not here and the "EasyPost" tracking link shows nothing. I e-mailed their Customer Service a couple days ago about the link not working and they got right back to me with instructions to give it ten more days and let them know if it's not delivered by then. Still waiting.

WOW @GoDawgs that is sad. I have always had good luck with my orders from Baker Creek. I would be frustrated.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
Alabama's and Georgia's processing centers were a mess a year ago. In another swap that I'm in, some people down south didn't receive letters until May. They contained Christmas cards.
Hmm, maybe Alabama postal workers were drinking heavy because their football team lost, and Georgia's postal workers were drinking heavy because their team won.
Here, the regional distribution center closed down several years ago. Now, I mail a letter to Hawaii and it gets there in 3 day. I mail a letter one town over from me and it takes 5 days. The letter first goes to a distribution center in the bordering state, and then back.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
@Spike , I've never had this problem with the before either. I'm blaming the post office, probably Atlanta Distribution Center.
@Tormato , no hint at all! LOL! Threepeat? Boy, that would be so hard to do but if there was ever a team that could do it, it would be this one with most players coming back. But there are always injuries and unforeseens that can blow a year all to pieces.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
@GoDawgs I received my Seeds N Such order yesterday. No notification it had shipped like they normally do. Order was placed
Dec 25. No complaints, I figure they're busier than normal.
Hope you get your Baker Creek order soon.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
The post office has been a nightmare on occasion the last few years. Wife was waitng for a package that was out for delivery. Never came. Driver said our address did not exist. She called the local PO, and they had it. Same thing net day. She finally went to the PO and picked it up. It was time sensitive. Over the holidays there were lots of temporary help, drivers and others. I sell things on ebay, and told a couple buyers I would wait til after the new year to ship, if it was alright with them. I still have a few varieties I want to order, but waiting to see what I get in the swap. Think I will order the harder ones to get before that though. Desperately want Brandywine Yellow-Platfoot. Hope I am not disappointed in it LOL.

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
I bought some corn seed a few years ago, from Burpee I think, Illini super sweet f1. My dad used to grow that. Really good flavor and firm kernels that freeze well. Got lost, and bounced back and forth between regional centers. I finally got it, too late to plant ( long to maturity). The package looked like it got hung up in a sorting machine or something, the label was somewhat damaged but readable. Frustrating.

I ordered some seeds from Asian Garden 2 Table, late on 1-31 (maybe early morning 2-1?), and got an email that it was shipped the next morning. I got it today, on 2-4, and this is from Florida to NJ!

Re: Speedy Seed Order Record!
After waiting some more for the seeds I finally contacted Baker Creek again and they immediately reshipped. It got here three days later. Good people there, very kind.
I just wonder if there are some seed stealing gardeners in the Atlanta Distribution network.....
